700C tire on 700C wheel. Followed videos for how to get it over the rim, which say to position the bead in the center of the rim to reduce circumference. Worked fine. But it’s on so tight it’s wedged in the middle and I’m not sure how to get it to sit on the edge. I removed it anyways because the rim tape is no good and I need to replace it, but I’m wondering if this tire is a lost cause? What do I do from here?

Put in a tube. Get the other side on. Then inflate.
Soapy water can help.
Try taping rim with tubeless tape. Lower profile than a rim strip, might make things easier.
Put a tube in? The tire doesn’t seat itself without air
As others have said: if you’re already replacing the rim strip, try rim tape instead – the lower profile and smooth texture will help the tire (/tube) move around. Soapy water is also a great step if you’re really struggling. Just dish soap and water, spray / drizzle it all over; gives the rubber a little lubrication that will wash off later. Just be patient!
This is common, once you inflate the tire it will pop into place. If it does not, plain water will help.
