Hey everyone,
I’ve recently gotten into cycling and have really started to enjoy it — I’d like to take it a bit more seriously and eventually do a longer cycling trip next summer (planning something like UK → Germany).
I’ve found two bikes on Facebook Marketplace and I’m trying to figure out which one would be the better buy, both in terms of value and long-term reliability. Also hoping to negotiate the price a bit if possible.
Here are the two options:
- Trek Domane AL 2 Gen 4 (2025) – £625
- Scott Speedster 50 (2025) – £450
I’m mainly going to use it for road rides, weekend rides in parks and building up endurance for touring next year.

Both are mechanical disc brake with flat mount frame. I know Trek has own specific headset on Domane (brand’s endurance bike) spring and bearing. But Scott Speedster has commonly universal standart. But no matter which one you choose, there is a need for an upgrade. My choice is Scott Speedster!
For what it’s worth, new to cycling myself and I have a similar Trek Domane 2 Rim and I really like it. I use it for road cycling, did a few 50 milers and a metric century. I put a cushion on the seat and it’s quite comfortable. It’s easily adaptable and a good entry point bike.
