So basically I'm dying to figure out what this bike could be, but since it's only chrome and no paint anywhere I'm basically lost. The frame shape is also really unique, I've never in my life seen one like this, triple triangle with part of the top tube being curved up towards the saddle. My dad originally purchased it in 1993 in Germany.

I was also contemplating restomodding it into a road bike, with drop bars, road tyres and a more modern groupset. Do you guys think that's feasible in terms of parts, or is it even a good idea?

  1. 1988 or ‘89 Haro Extreme, before they went to elevated chainstays. Very cool!

One issue with updating it is the rear U-brake; the bosses are different from both cantilever and V-brakes, so you’re stuck with them. Whatever levers you use will need a short pull ratio (same as Cantis or road caliper brakes), so you’ll probably want to keep Cantis on the front as well.

I wouldn’t do anything to it but restore it to original spec — which looks pretty much intact!
