  1. Also helps to debur the valve stem hole in the rim. Take that sharp edge off with a knife or file. Also helps to keep valve stems directly up, of they start to slide at an anglle they can get damaged as well.

    Interesting. Ive never had a flat from that spot, just random pinholes from glass (i assume). What i do is actually de-burr and polish the hole on the inside. Few old wheels i have tend to all come with a harsh edge around the tube hole. I also use gorilla tape as a rim strip as it really lays down flat with no harsh edges like some plastic/factory rim strips.
