A question what might have been for these guys. They just couldn’t get cohered together. And here’s that 90 degree over the bridge over the mighty L. There’s actually an island in the middle that they bridge to. There it is. Go and sun yourself, why don’t you? The P Napoleon. Uh but let’s see. They have still a bit of a job to do once they come over the other bank once we’ve finally reached it over this aluvial thrown up island that we’ve got. There’s a right hand turn once they uh they leave this. They go onto a roundabout essentially that’ll take us screaming down towards the 1700 meters to go marker. Um and they will take a lefthander which will bring them to the Flam Rouge and they’ll still have another left-hander to finish off the job. They’re trying to finish off each other. They’re both on different sides of the road. They’ve got their own lanes to play with here. Brian, this is hilarious. Yeah, they’re coming back together now. But you know that was a moment there and any any hesitation at all between both of these riders and it could be curtains. Woo! That was so so close. That was nearly end of day for Timbo Lera did the right thing. Drifted over. That was a shaky moment for them. Shows you how much they’re putting into this. Brian, it’s going to be a two-up sprint. Here’s the lefthander that I was telling you about. This is magnificent. They are nearly there. That’s at 1700 meters. They go past the Flam Rouge in just a few moments time and this is now Gurel just thinking this is a magnificent opportunity. He’s the quickest off the two. La Pera look nice and handy bike handling skills there. You’ve just seen it described to you and now the elbow flicks out and they do indeed get he does indeed give him a turn. They want to hold the margin. It’s only 10 seconds as you can see. What a finish we’ve got here. Just going to come through the the Flam Rouge in 200 meters time in about 400 meters. They have their last turn of the day at 800 m it will be and then they have to get home. They’re playing. Yeah, they start. This is what they don’t want to do. And of course, La Pera wants to put Gu in front. He knows that he’s the quicker of both of them. So, this is nailbiting stuff for Decathlon and Group Hama because like I said, any hesitation, it could be curtains for them. 8 seconds now. They’re going to take the turn. I think they might get caught if this lights up behind them. What’s Biss going to going to do? That’s the big question. Is he going to Oh my goodness. They’re going to get caught here. Oh, they’ve stared each other into the abyss. This is an absolute nightmare. Oh, they’ve been caught. They’ve been wounded in. Talk about throwing it away. That is a nightmare. Maybe Kruell believes even in within this company he can win the sprint. But he’s got Christoff Leaport here. Here comes Bisiger. He’s going to have to go long. He’s a time tri. It’s not a sprinter. And of course he does. So he picks it up cleverly, I guess. Gruel goes in on his back wheel. Does it? Bizer hasn’t quite fully ignited just yet. Laaport’s also here. So indeed is Albert Phillips. And I think my money’s on the man from Little Trek here. He’s keeping it nice and steady. He’s in fourth wheel right now. He wants to follow the wheel of Kristoff Leaport. But Biser’s going to power this one home. Trenton’s not finished either. And Tibo Gruel’s going to come through here. They split wide. Bis versus Gruel. Is he going to get on the throw? Is he ridden clever here? Is it going to be Trent in dialing the clock back at the very last? The man in black. Oh my goodness. He’s only got done it. That is fantastic. Matio Trenin, 36 years of age. It’s been a while since he’s had something so magnificent as a win. And he’s only gone and done it right here at the end of this season. The autumn of his career, you might say. But that was brilliantly judged by the man in black. Cue the music. That was superb. I couldn’t believe that there. Um the rivalry between Decathlon and Group Armor shines through. They threw it away and Matio Trentine steals the day from Kristoff Leaport. It looked a very labor sprint in the end, but yeah, I thought they were going to sprint it out for the victory. irrelevant of who is the fastest. It’s always a difficult one at the end of a hard race like this. But wow, what a finish that was. What a finale. That is magnificent. Well, for me, this will draw European racing to a close, but my goodness, what a way to finish. Trenton’s at the back. Talk us in, Brian. Yeah, well, it was um Binger. I thought he would have went for a long one there when they came back together, but he didn’t. and he was leading out Lera and Laa had the legs. Look where Gu is. Gu just sits down. Trenting well he got the front and Christo Leaport sits down. Nothing left in the legs wins. But look at the difference between Lea and Gruell. And it was La Pera that started kicking things off with the you know wanting to force Gu to to lead out. Guell said no I’m not leading out. But look at Lea. He he finishes well in front of Guel. You never know at the end of a hard race like this, but I just think it was the inter rivalry between the two French teams that just killed off their opportunity to win this race. And Matio Trentine, the old Wy Fox came through and delivers in the end. If you’re going to ride, ride clever. And today, the man who unpicked this Rubik’s cube was Matio Trentin. He put all the blocks on the table in the right order at exactly the right time at the line. [Laughter] That is magnificent. Three times he’s won this race. I think this will be the most special.

  1. The only thing worse than the Dutch women is the French…oh my god how can you hate each other so much that you would rather destroy your enemy vs hope for the win

  2. Same old story from the same ol' idiots. Out in front… plenty of gap to finish 1/2… but they pulled up and fvcked around and got caught and neither of them got NOTHIN'. Why can't these clowns ever learn… that it is better to work together and get 1/2 on the podium than slow down and jerk each other off and get NOTHING. Have you ever seen Tadej pull up at the end of a race? Hell no. He rides full gas to the finish line–unless he's WAY out in front.

  3. What a stupid move from Gruel. You are the fast rider just take the lead and make sure you don't get caught. Sure you have Bissegger to lead you out once you get caught, but do you really want to take your chances against Laporte, Philipsen and Trentin? No blame on Lapeira who rode for the win and knew he was never winning the sprint against Gruel if he lead him out.

  4. Bissiger and DAT threw the win away.

He was in the perfect position (last) for jumping to the right and breaking away as soon as the chaser group caught the 2 fugitives ( 2:34).

In the meantime, Lapeira should have positioned himself on the right while waiting to be caught in order to keep a gap open to facilitate Bissiger attack (like Gruel did, defensively though).

In Varese 2008 Ballan and Italy won a rainbow jersey and 2 medals this way.

    See you next year ❤
