  1. Probably further than needed to prevent heel strike. I’m contemplating getting new plates made for the bottom end of my Axiom to raise it a bit so I can keep it mounted when I want to use my trailer.

  2. It might be a little whippy when loaded. Also looks like one of your bolts is not tightened down or too long. Please post pics of the rack without the pannier.

My pannier has adjustable contact points so I can slide it around

    It’s REI branded

  4. it does seem a bit far back vs my bikes. it’s a bit hard to judge without a photo without the pannier.

looks to be a smaller frame which does change the geometry a bit vs bigger bikes.

as other have said, the main thing is it’s far enough backwards that your heels dont hit your bag as you pedal. but equally, positioned not too far back beyond that. i think the weight of the rack should be mostly cantered over the rear axel. based on your photo it’s not clear where the issue is, but i think it’s probably just not a design for that bike frame. check if there are adjustments on the pannier to move it a bit more forward.

  6. I say the further back the better. I had to move them back when I kept hitting them while riding. But that could be just a me issue

  7. I wish I had a rack with that positioning. My current setup interferes with the saddle bag and is uncomfortably close to my feet

  8. Could you post a photo without the pannier so we can see the rack?

Are you able to adjust the hardware on the pannier to change the position?
