Riding Across Sweden, Euro Cycle Tour

During my second day in Sweden, I continued riding west toward Norway, covering 117 miles

day two in sweden uh wild camping in some field i woke up a little while ago uh it’s now 6 30. there are slugs everywhere all over my stuff all over my tent and all over the ground it’s another wet day uh rain last night and still still slightly raining drizzling right now and really cloudy wild camping is legal in sweden so any fields that aren’t fenced off can be used but i don’t know i still find it really weird to just walk out of the forest through a field onto the road and start riding [Music] i had an interesting start to my time in sweden first part was great i got off the ferry pretty early in the morning cruised around the city it’s another place i’d love to spend more time in but just kind of took it in uh quickly and then was on my way out um we’re running on a lot of bike paths which is very cool but didn’t make it very far um around mile 25 when a lady on an e-scooter and i collided she was on the wrong side of the path coming around a blind turn luckily wasn’t too bad and my backpack braced the fall for me but i hit my head um kind of hard especially my jaw and uh that was a kind of in pain especially when i was trying to eat i couldn’t really chew so decided to play it safe and go to a hospital which with the closest one was a 25 mile ride away but i made it there they checked me out and said likely just soft tissue damage so just sore no damage to the bone road for a few more hours after the hospital before a thunderstorm came through and it started raining pretty hard so i stopped under another bus stop the storm eventually mostly passed so i rode on a little bit more uh until just after sunset so despite everything i still managed to get 100 miles in which is pretty cool but didn’t make it as far west as the crow flies as i wanted because i had to take a detour to the hospital but that timing won’t affect me too much just still riding west [Music] [Music] this bakery section pizza from lidl might be the best grocery store pizza i’ve had on this trip and i’ve had a lot it’s it’s definitely my go-to i got four of them today see also got a bunch of pastries here and uh some drinks i got a grape juice back there so yeah quality breakfast [Music] just made a ton of friends oh bye [Music] nice boots there last three miles thanks to tractor that pulled ahead of me and was slow enough that i could draft but with some effort but now back breaking the wind myself stop for a snack a little bit more than a snack in mile 60. 80 miles in lots of lakes rolling hills um it’s really nice i have about another 30 miles or so until i get to uh the town that i plan to stop in uh get some dinner there [Music] [Music] made it into town which is pretty small the guy for directions to a bike shop because i need a new tire for my back wheel and he warned me about a big storm coming in tonight so that’s not great i’m gonna find somewhere to get food and then figure out what to do tonight first course is a pizza and a big fanta and an impending rainstorm next up finished eating just as the storm started coming in so it’s raining now i’m under a gazebo which to be honest i’m tempted to just stay here the night if it rains the whole time but we’ll see it’s only like 6 45 right now so i have a couple hours before the sun sets um yeah i’m not sure what i’m gonna do or where i’m gonna go for tonight but yeah we’ll see break of the storm it’s now about eight o’clock and um decided to leave the town and look for a place to camp no plan really just gonna ride along the road until i see a spot that looks good enough don’t know how long that’s gonna take [Music] i found a spot it was pouring while i was setting up now the rain has kind of stopped i got my 10 pack here um sun’s going down even though it’s cloudy um rain i think it’s supposed to continue all night but um we’ll see and continue tomorrow so just gonna stay wet for for a while but um yeah successful day i guess 117 miles um working my west way west in sweden should get to norway probably in two days [Music]
