You need to recut the thread on the crank arm. Afaik the thread on thel left crank arm is left-hand thread. So you cant use a regular thread cutter. Better visit a shop for that.
That’s not silver gunk, that’s the threads completely stripped off. Cheap aluminum cranks, your only option is to replace
Something went very wrong here. Those threads are toast.
