La Cross to Elroy, Elroy to Sauk City, Sauk City to Pinewoods Campground, Pinewoods to Milwaukee. 258 miles total across the La Cross River Trail, Elroy Sparta State Trail, 400 State Trail, Devil's Lake State Park, Great Sauk State Trail, Madison, Glacial Drumlin Bike Trail, and the New Berlin Trail to Milwaukee. I’m looking into doing some of the longer rail trails when I retire, C&O, Katy Trail, etc. This one is definitely on the list.
I’ve ridden 90% of this in bits and pieces but haven’t ever yet done it in one ride.
How was the camping? Were there sites along the trails?
Did anyone ever check to see if you’d paid for your Wisconsin state trail pass? I get where they’re coming from but I don’t think they really make enough revenue from it to be useful, they probably pay as much in administration costs as they receive in revenue. Seems like a great route though!
