[Dunja] Seko! We started from Čenta, and the route took us through the entire Banat. We crossed the border at Jaša Tomić. And the idea was to pass Timisoara, Lugos, Karansebes and go down to the Danube, via Bela Crkva and enter Serbia. The route is about 600+ kilometers in total. We are at the Tlo Fest venue (place of the festival) [Dunja] Bon Appetit Rogi.
[Rogi] Thank you. [Dunja] And now the idea is to sit here for
a while to rest and then the next step is Sečanj. But now we look, we came here to the camp site, but it seems that the grass is too big, it’s muddy and cold. We don’t know if we will stay for the night. [Rogi] It’s really big mud. Cheers! [Dunja] Mostly We shot poorly We wanted to go camping and ended up here in this hotel and we’re going to sleep. We arrived! Now we just have to cross the border, huh? Yes. Everything is better after breakfast. I thought I was going to die until I ate one donut. We left Serbia, this dog checked our passports. He says everything is fine with the bike, you are fine, you can go. You can go on, let’s go! We debated which way to go. and while we were arguing, I had a flat tire. [Rogi] We have to avoid these, how are they are called, pebbles. [Dunja] There is no living soul anywhere, here is Rogi. Empty roads for the last 20 km. Here we are making coffee. [Rogi] Do exercises. Before your back starts to crack. How powerful it is, look at this packaging. Here we are in the center of Timisoara. Let’s go for a ride to a pharmacy. To find a cure for the sinuses. [Dunja] Let’s go somewhere for a coffee.
[Rogi] On a milkshake. [Dunja[ Wait, it’s still early. [Rogi] So the road is very narrow and there is no bicycle lane. [Dunja] This road is awful. [Rogi] There isn’t even an extended part, and the cars just fly by. [Dunja] It’s a bit hard to shoot. [Rogi] Another 45 km to Lugoš. Top! I just turn off the recording and the truck passes by. [Dunja] Here is Lugoš, another 36 km. Sunny ahead. And behind us heavy rain. [Rogi] And now we go into the hills and valleys. [Dunja] Move your head Rogi. The sun goes away. Here we are now in Lugoš. We sat down to eat something. It’s a very cute place. It’s so sweet. Now a granny passed by. She started to say something in Romanian.
And we’re like what what. We put a brick here to hold our door. That we can go out. She came and took a brick and closed the door for us. To show us. We have come to her area, so we are interfering there.
[Rogi]: Usho, usho, she says. And today we are moving towards Karansebesh. Here Dunja is trying to set up the microphone. Which was sunk from the beginning of the journey. [Dunja] Today is a relaxed day. We are swinged left/right by trucks,
but it’s nothing serious. It’s nothing we’re not used to. So it’s really good. The weather is beautiful, we hope it stays like this. We went to Lidl and so on. Some grandpa asked me in Lidl. [Rogi belches in the background] He speaks in Romanian and I speak in Serbian. He asked me from where are we. He smokes a cigar and points to Rogi while he is at the cash register in Lidl, a colleague grandpa says. He says tourists tourists. [Rogi] What is better for you, to drive on a gravel or a highway? [Dunja] By dirt road. [Rogi] Dunja is more for gravel roads. We have a little problem. We ran into a paddle. We have to push over the grass. We just ate, and I would eat everything from here. [Dunja] We were attracted by the smell of the barbecue. [Rogi] What would you like to eat? [Dunja] I wouldn’t, but when I see all this, I panic. I need to eat something. DONUTS! [Rogi] We slept for nine and a half hours. We are ready to conquer some hills. [Dunja] Today we’re going to go somewhere in the middle of nowhere. What did you say we will be near the Carpathians?
[Rogi confirms] Amazing. We ease, and we’re okay, I mean I’m okay for now. Although, I have inflammation of sinuses. [Rogi] Beside inflammation of the whole body and inflammation of the sinuses, everything is quite okay. [Dunja] Look at this. [Rogi] Yes, the glasses fogged up. [Dunja] Yes, but it doesn’t matter. It’s okay. [Rogi] I don’t see anything I sometimes turn into the middle of the road, but it’s okay. [Dunja] We took a different route to get off the main road. Here we are now taking some side roads, slowly entering the hilly areas.
Here are the sheep. Today is Sunday and the problem is that we don’t know if all the stores will be open. I can already see on the map that many shops are not working. We have one store left on the road for the next 40km+ that says it’s open. So we’ll see. Here we are in a village and the whole village is saying hello to us. And everyone says Christ something. I say hello hello. I do not know what to say. [Rogi] Dunja blockbuster. We sat down to freshen up a little before the big hills. Look at your luck when you get off the highway. [Dunja] This road is just ours. [Rogi] Watch this now. [Dunja] We are climbing, Rogi is resting but we still have strength.
Does your neck still hurts? Well, this is not terrible now, I thought it would be way worse, but now around the corner it will be hard. We are eating some blueberries before the ascent. We still have 6km left. We were at the level of this road below,
but even before that we had a lot of climbing to do. And now we need to go up. Where these cars are coming from. Now we’re pushing bikes, we can’t ride them, there’s no way. [Rogi] Here we have reached the very top, almost. Dunja is dead. [Dunja] It literally took us all day to get to this accommodation. We have been climbing for the last 3 hours.
It was just an uphill climb, but it was worth it. This is how it looks when you go outside to the terrace. Literally in the middle of nowhere. This is our neighbor. He says give me some more. We gave him pasta to eat. He liked it and says he wants more. So is there a little left? Did we eat everything? Well, you ate everything doggy. You ate it all. They announced rain and the sun is breaking through. Oh, where is he? Musavko! Good morning! Good morning, Musavko. What’s the road like? [Rogi] The road is really bad. Maybe that’s a good thing, because
if it were nice and flat s yesterday, we would definitly crash. [Dunja] Yesterday, while we were climbing,
the road was perfect. Now there are holes and it’s really tricky. I’m all stiff, I’m afraid, I can’t let go because I can’t even see the holes. I didn’t see the hole a little while ago and you can’t. I brake, but my bike is slipping like this. And right in the hole.
[Rogi] Because it’s sand. [Dunja] Yeah it will take us five hours today to descend. Everyone is saying hello to us. Some boy said hi, he was very cute. Some grandpa looked out, looks like he’s spyinh out, I wave at him. [Rogi] Here we were coming down from that hill. There it is. Hey, Dunja, your pizza has arrived, hey. Dunja got ready for the rainy season. [Dunja] We are ready for the rain! Here we go! [Rogi] For now, the rain is not too heavy. And I don’t know how much we have left. A little more to accommodation. But it’s not bad even in the rain honestly, it doesn’t bother me that much. Here we found accommodation, the rain stopped in the meantime. But by the time we found the accommodation, we were really tired. We went in there first. So we looked to see if it was there. Then we went in here. Then we entered this blue building. We went into this basement. We found out that it’s not there either. We went here as well and it’s not there either. Until Dunja realized that the man had sent us pictures in ten different files. It’s like we’re playing a game. Now she found it, but we still don’t know what floor it is on. She went to check. Dunja, what do you say? Did we manage to find accommodation? [Dunja] We are making coffee. Our laundry is being done. Bicylces are right here. The place is called Hercules. I need to investigate why. Rogi is taking a shower and that’s it. [Rogi] Here we are at the spa. Today we are taking a break. From cycling. Today we will just bath in this cave. Maybe we’ll break out somewhere. [Dunja] And here we have reached Hercules. It took us all day. But here we are. What kind of lions? My name is Aphrodite. She is very good and sweet. Look how beautiful I am. Oh, she’s following us, already 500m with us. Everything is abandoned. This building is completely empty. Look what this looks like. We are leaving the Hercules Spa. We are eating. I eat muffins and yogurt. [Rogi] I f**ed up a bit, I got a burek with sweet cheese. Rogi took a sweet burek. Here they have sweet and salty burek, but we don’t know how to explain that we need salty. Does it have a lot of cheese as well? [Rogi] Well, yes. [Dunja] I don’t like the burek here because the cheese is getting everywhere. It’s not crunchy and nice. So I eat muffins, that’s my safe zone. Today begins the third stage of our journey. Descent to the Danube. Only 300 km to go. We arrived at the Danube. [Rogi] We have arrived at the Danube!
[Dunja] To the sea! I feel like we’re on the sea, it’s huge. He is their father Hot. I was changing in the middle of the road. Here is our buddy. So I took off my clothes again, and then I got dressed, it’s very hot. And now, for the first time in a week, we saw a colleague on the road. [Rogi] Oh yes!
[Dunja] Bikepacker. [Rogi] Colleague! [Dunja] Granpa who stopped us to ask us something in Romanian. [Rogi] Yes. He’s probably interested in where we’re going. [Dunja] Yes, he asked where we are going. But we can’t understand each other. The dog is coming with us. The dog says, come on it’s not that hard. Guys, you see how I go every day. Here we go! [Rogi] Dunja found a turtle. [Dunja] Look at her. [Rogi] Turtle walks over the seat. Dunja was just stung by a wasp, who knows what it is. [Dunja] For the second time [Rogi] Well, if it grows, we’ll find a hospital. The hospital! No big deal. What do you say Dunja? [Dunja] Phenomenal. These three dogs greeted us this morning when we left. I prepared the bread here. [Rogi] Who’s next? [Dunja] This girl. Not! Ah OK. Come over. Not! She has to get it. She didn’t get it. So don’t be rude. Come on, give it to her. That’s it. No more. [Rogi] No more. Does not have. We have to go. [Dunja] The dogs escorted us through the village. And they continued their journey with us. They saved us from three dogs. Here I am. [Heavy sighs] We’re still going and they’re still following us. Here is a wild camp site. There are two campers for now. It’s probably beautiful here in the summer. But it’s very cold now. The dogs didn’t wanna follow us here. They respected us. [Rogi] When we parted, I cried. [Dunja] Yes, Rogi cried. But they are really good dogs. [Rogi] They are good. [Dunja] We didn’t know we were going to climb like this today. Back to the hills. But it does not matter. What can we do about it. Let’s rock! Across the river is Serbia. We no longer have Romanian internet. And not even the Serbian mobile range. I go down and shout woop woop. [Rogi] Yes, just before that it goes aaaaaa. What is down there when the top of the tower is here? It’s blowing really hard.
[Dunja] The wind is blowing in our face! Visibly annoyed. A vehicle is following him. His team is with him. And he managed to climb! Well done well done! I managed to overtake the tractor. [Rogi] Come on if you can start. So this is all downhill and the wind is stopping her. And you can’t, it’s disaster! So this is a disaster how slow we are going. This is all downhill and we are going like 5-6km per hour. Maldives on the Danube. The Romanian way. What is the name of this dog? [Dunja] His name is Viršoljub.
(hot dog lover) Oh My God. [Rogi] He asks to be cuddled. [Dunja] It’s a very good dog. How are you such a good dog? And where is your friend? [Rogi] He came to motivate you a little. [Dunja] Yes, I said a while ago that I have no more motivation. [Rogi] And then he came along. [Dunja] I said a while ago that I have no more motivation. And this dog comes to motivate me. Viršoljub followed us another 4km But then some aggressive dogs attacked us and Viršoljub went in opposite direction [Rogi] Did you collapse? We made electrolytes and water. [Dunja] I have no more strength. We have covered 70km, I want to rest! I’ve had enough! I miss Viršoljub. 12km to go. I hardly pushed the last 10 km. I can’t wait to get there and make a cup of coffee. [Rogi] We are approaching our accommodation today. I’m like a corpse. I’m dead. 84km [Dunja] We chose this accommodation because it is in this city. To shorten the journey to the border, And when we come to this city and come to that address it says. And it turns out that the accommodation is in a village 10 km before. [Rogi] We arrived at a club.
[the temperuture got to zero that night] [Dunja] Here we are in Old Moldova. We are going on our way to Bela Crkva. We are leaving Romania soon. [Rogi] Now the climbing starts. And after this climb, we descend directly to Serbia. [Dunja] Not much traffic. Oops, I’m about to be run over by a car. That’s where we came from. Here we go! [Rogi] Move on! If she takes off her cap se will get sick. If she leaves it, she will suffocate. Let’s just get over this hill. And there is Serbia. [Dunja] Hey, enough of pathetics! And a slightly stronger climb begins. [Rogi] Wow, so pretty. You are beautiful! [Dunja] Check it out, Rogi! [Rogi] Look at the bench at the top! We literally came from here. It was the day before yesterday I think. And today we were here. We started from here. And we climbed up there and now we are here. And now we go here and to the left and there is the Bela Crkva. Let’s have lunch! [Dunja] This morning we bought a burek in Lidl. And the whole day we wait for some friend to show up to get the burek. Oooo It’s done! Here we are! We left Romania. And now we are returning to Serbia. This woman was very nice at the crossing. She talked to us for a long time, probably bored there all day. [Rogi] Romania is there. See you on another occasion! We don’t know if we should go somewhere outside Bela Crkva or stay in Bela Crkva? We will see all that when we come to Bela Crkva. We decided to skip the Bela Crkva. We’re going to the Gaj for some wild camping. I thought we would stop in Bela Crkva and camp. But when we saw that nothing was working
there at the camp and that it was just a bit of a mess. It’s not the season yet. We ate veal stew. [Dunja] That was good. [Rogi] And that gave us the strength to push another 35km [Dunja] Yes, and to come here. It’s amazing here. It’s 5:30 a.m. It’s been a hell of a night. Full of twists and turns. Did you hear?
[Rogi] Whom? [Dunja] Drekavac (mythical being) Karakonjula or Drekavac (both mythical beings) [Rogi] This is Drekavac I was so afraid at one point that I took pepper spray in one hand and dog chaser in another [Dunja] Really? [Dunja imitates the sounds of the Drekavac from last night] And my heart is like this I’m tripping [Rogi] I shit myself [Dunja] Today is the last day of the ride. I can’t walk today. Looks like some muscles in my left leg are torn. Or I froze in the tent, I don’t know what happened. I can barely walk, I don’t know how I’m going to push through today, but come on, it’s the last day, so tomorrow we’ll somehow, I guess we’ll rest tomorrow.
