    Eh because it’s too tight
Edit so no to be an asshat! The inner nuts are too tight against the face of the wheel bearings, you’ve probably spun them while doing up the outer nuts. Take the wheel off and sort out the inner nuts and when refitting the wheel use a thin spanner to hold the inner nuts

Those BMX style hubs have a half nut that tensions the bearing, sometimes it gets tightened as you tighten the wheel and binds up. You might need two skinny spanners to slack it back off again, tighten it without the bearing getting squished, and refit the wheel. Don’t be tempted to ride it like this, I snapped a chain doing this on a BMX, nearly did a perfect front flip over the bars onto my spine.

  3. Pro tip is when you’re adjusting the cup and cone bearings only ever adjust 1 side, it just saves you the hassle of re centering it.

It’s not too big of a deal if you do and a simple thing to learn. I actually find doing these are one of the most satisfying bike jobs when you replace and grease the bearings and fine tune it for as low tolerance as possible when tightened.
