Just came back from a 35 km trip on my new Brompton Electric G Line. I covered pretty much every terrain — road, cycle path, gravel, and even a forest trail. I rode the entire time on maximum power, and the battery ran out after around 20 km, so the last 15 km were purely leg-powered.

Riding without assistance is fine on flat sections or gentle inclines, but once you see a proper hill, start swearing before you start — you’ll need it.

Overall, it’s a fun, versatile bike, but don’t expect miracles from the battery if you’re using max assist and mixing terrains.

I’ve been looking into the electric G line. Is a 20 km range normal or was it not charged completely?

  2. pretty disappointing range if I can be honest for newly released product from Brompton. no chance to install range extender sort of thing, I guess ?

  3. I didn’t realise its range was so short, and that’s presumably pedal assist right? Speaking for myself both the increased comfort and rough surface capabilities are in opposition to a limited range i.e I would get it over a C line to ride further and more comfortably but it looks like it can’t. I bet it’s fun though.
