About to pull the trigger on a significant bike upgrade. Was initially looking at the Cannondale Supersix Evo 2 as my favourite option, however I have just found a Scott Addict RC 10 on sale at a shop for the same price (assuming it is last year's model?). I'm a recreational rider and not too competitive, but will be doing my first Ironman 70.3 next year and probably a Gran Fondo or two as well.

Cannondale:
$7500 AUD
Ultegra groupset
Hollowgram carbon 45mm deep wheelset
No powermeter – will have to buy one separately

Scott:
$7500 aud
SRAM force AXS
Crank set powermeter included
Synchros 35mm carbon wheelset

  1. U should look for an scott foil. My dealer told me they have a TT System for the handlebar. Not sure if theres one for the sse or addict. Seems expensive in germany costs an sse2 under 5k Euros.

  2. If you care about speed in the iron man this is definitely the wrong kind of bike, neither of these are particularly aerodynamic and in a time trial, the vast majority of your watts are going into air resistance.

Assuming you’ve thought about that and still want one of these, I’d say the super six is kinda the default best choice in this class. It’s aero tweaked so it will be a little faster than the Scott and the Supersix is just generally known for being a great handling bike with a fantastic layup and geometry. Nothing against the Scott, the Supersix just does really well in Tour magazine testing, has excellent pedigree and a hell of a lot of people swear by it. Don’t think that can be said to quite the same extent with the Scott.

That said, both are amazing bikes and you’ll have an amazing time on either. If there’s a specific feature on the Scott you really like, get the Scott, they’re not that different so just go with your heart.

If you haven’t considered an aero bike I would highly recommend it 🙂
