27.5 rim I forget what width but I know it’s a wider rim

I don’t usually go over many bumps or rough ground even with these wheels or suspension

Got this new last year and except for some minor brake problems for another topic it’s been good but I do try to take this one easy and not ride it too hard

  1. LetsTryScience on

Most likely an under tensioned or cheaper wheel. Riding makes the spoke go through tension and release cycles which eventually fatigues the spoke.

Just check a different shop or go with the black one it will work fine. Many shops don’t want to buy a separate bag of silver spokes which may take them a decade to sell through.

  2. You can always ask if the shop will get you the right colour and length spoke for the wheel – and considering their cost, get you a couple of spares too, to keep. Repairing it is quick – the LBS will do it in 15 minutes.

  3. Just take the black one. Then if you have another break you will know if it’s an original or replacement which broke. I promise you it will not make your bike look any worse

  4. Well you’re in luck, if you broke 1 spoke you are certainly due to break several more in the near future. They might all be black soon.
