I am considering doing this bike tour on the Otago rail trail- has anyone done this tour or have done one a tour through Intrepid before? This will be my first time in NZ, so I would ideally like to have a guide. If you’ve done a tour through a different company and have a rec- would love to know about it! Also, what is the terrain like? Thanks in advance!

I did a day trip on the section between Clyde and Omakua. Specifically the Poolburn Gorge and train tunnels part.
The big tunnel is crazy. Half a km in absolute pitch black. The light on my rented bike was pretty bad and you seriously need to just aim straight and hope for the best.
Overall a nice trail and I would have liked to a do multi day tour on the rest of it.
The section from Ranfurly through Middlemarch is easy riding…not much break from the sun however
We rode through here in early Feb a few years ago and it was wonderful
