You’re skipping the Su’ao Highway, which is probably the nicest part of the coast for the views, but I can see you want to go down Taroko instead of up.
You’re on the coast a lot afterwards without any variation. Most people do a stretch of that south of Hualien inland through the Valley or cut back in later before Taitung and do the mountain road (23-1/197).
South of Taitung there is really only one route to the tip and then up.
If you don’t want to climb, this is what you got. But I think it will be monotonous from Taroko to Daren.

Planning to ride from the north tip to south tip of Taiwan. My priority is to take in the most beautiful landscape. However I only have 12 days to complete this so obviously I cant hit every spot. What do you guys think of the route i have planned? I’m planning to complete the Wuling pass, then make my way down thru Taroko gorge, eventually following the East coast down to the bottom tip.
One specific question I have is, after reaching Hualien would you recommend following the inland valley or sticking straight the the actual coastal highway?
