Hey guys, I’m looking for a modern road frame with a completely horizontal top tube in a smaller size around 52. Don’t judge me too much, I just really love that old-school traditional geometry like the Klein Quantum Pro or Cannondale R500, no sloping, just a clean straight line. A restomod would be great, but I live in the mountains so ideally I’d still like to have disc brakes, and the ability to fit 28–30 mm tires, that’s pretty much all I need. It’s just for fun rides, not racing. So far the only thing I found close is the De Rosa SK Pininfarina. I also looked at the BMC Timemachine Road and Giant Propel, but both start sloping in smaller sizes. Maybe the rumored Cannondale CAAD14 will bring that shape back like it was on CAAD12.

So, any modern disk options with traditional geometry in small size? What’s left?

Hard to find anything with the classic no-dropped-seat-stay look, but the first bike that came to mind was the Look Blade 795.

It has good tire clearance but it’s hella expensive for a casual build ‘for fun rides’

  2. Felt AR advanced, if you can get one where you live. I myself ride a 52 and the top tube is flat.

  3. The last generation of super six evo had a classic geometry but also a disc brake version if you can find one on the used market.

  4. I’ve been thinking of the same thing for my next bike. Will probably end up getting a custom Ti frame to get it exactly how I want. And will also have it made with UDH. So I’ll have a horizontal top tube 1×13 road bike. Haven’t seen anything like that, since all UDH frames seem to be gravel, and really dropped seat stays and sloping top tube

  5. Vaast R/1 52 cm small size comes with not 0 slope but a very little slope, having 510 stack and 500 seat tube length.

  6. CAAD13 isn’t perfectly flat, but pretty dang close. Also if the leaked photos i saw of the CAAD 14 are legit it will have a flat top tube and disc brakes, and i would assume would fit a 30mm tire since the 13 can fit one.
