  1. 11-40 or 11-42 should be possible. I’ve a 11-40 on my R7000 Rear and 46-30 GRX chainset and all I needed was a longer b screw.

    I crammed in an 11-42 though I had to replace the rear derailleur B screw for it to work. Maximum I could get to work with no mods was an 11-40. In both cases shifting is worse than with the stock max cassette but manageable enough.

    44 confirmed if you are careful setting it up. i’ve seen people claim 46 but i wouldn’t do it myself

  4. You could also run smaller chainrings. There’s a company that makes a 44/28 replacement for the GRX crank, and if you have a threaded bottom bracket, there’s some square taper options for smaller cranksets. Or if you want super low gearing you could run one of Shimano’s 2×10 mtb cranksets, although you’d loose a lot of the higher gearing that way.
