Why is air coming out of this hole?
I can't inflate this tyre because air is escaping out of the small hole in the rim. What's going on here? This can only be a problem with the tape, but the wheels have just come back from the manufacturer, professionally taped, I can see no issues at all.
Any ideas??

It is called drain hole, allows the water to evaporate and vent.
Should not cause any problems, your valve should go through and come out at the rim tape. If you feel air is coming out while inflating, your rim tape possibly does not seal properly
Problem with the valve not seated properly or rim tape. You may have messed up the tape putting the tire on somehow, or it was just messed up from the beginning. Valve might not be tight enough or isn’t sitting quite flush for some reason.
Definitely a tape failure
Do you have valve extenders? Are they screwed in all the way?
Your rim tape is messed up.
Might be your rimtape letting air into the rim the hole is there so your rim doesnt blow up if that happens while trying to seat a tire.
Pressure relief hole so you don’t blowout the rim when the tubeless valve seal or tape is leaking.
Your tubeless valve or tape is not sealing..
If you are sure that it’s not the tape it’s the valve.
And when it’s not the valve it’s the tape.
Bad tape job
