Ive used a 2 “ finishing nail to pry it out. A little water may help as well

Fine nose tweesers. A large sewing needle. Center punch and a hammer. Super tiny drill bit to make a small hole then the center punch to break it up.

Could probably crack the rock with a center punch and a few taps with a hammer

Swiss army knife has a tool for this exact thing (ok, for stones in a horse’s hoof but still)

Stone is generally very brittle. you could smash it with a nail and hammer or similar

I recently used a pick set, sort of a mechanic version of dental picks.

Mechanic pick, I use a 90 degree, just stick the point in and pry, comes right out.

Pick tool. If you do any of your own wrenching, a set of different shape/ size pick tools are very handy to have around.

I had one with a ball bearing, had to dremel a small gap in the cleat bolt in order to fish it out with a pick.

Small flat head usually pops it out

Did you try to pull it out? Had the same situation, it looked like a stone. I took my hammer and a old screwdriver and in the end it was chewing gum covered with dirt which looked like stone.

Pick set or a wine key that you might break (use one you don’t care about).

Happens all the time for me. Never failed to remove with a pick, but on the trail you’re essentially boned.
