[Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] And on our street, the battle for Ro [Applause] [Music] awards ceremony of the streets of Kigali are packed because it’s the final day of UCI road championship, the world biggest road cycling event and for the first time ever in Africa, it’s happening here in Randa and I’m very excited to show you guys how it all went through my lenses and my eyesh. [Applause] [Music] I love you. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Let me tell you, Kali was on fire today. Like people from all around the world and of course Kegalians filled the streets dancing, cheering, waving the flags and ready to witness the greatness. Guys, the energy here was insane. Everyone came to support their team and celebrate the final showdown. Of course, the men’s elite road race, the grand final of UCI World Championship. Can you imagine the energy was something else? Like guys, if you were not here, why why did you miss this one? [Applause] [Music] Yeah. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Glory. [Music] Today was the grand final of UCI road championship here in Kgali, the men’s elite road race and the biggest event which covered around 267 kilometers with almost 5,500 m of climbing. H the race started and finished at Kegali Convention Center with riders doing multiple laps of a tough 15 kilome city circus and they face climbs like the Kot de Kigali Golf and the Ked Kimura which tested their strength from the start. After nine city laps, uh the riders went out on 42 plus kilometers extension loop taking on the steep mount Kali and the Kobo Migali. Then they returned for six more laps in the city where the real battle begins you know and then the final showdown happened on Kimura coort climb right before the existing uh finishing line. Granda. But this one is the best spot because I have to see them climbing up the hill. And this one is the hardest climb they are going to do today. Woo! Randa randa. [Music] Oh yeah. [Music] And of course after enjoying riders climbing Mount Gali and before we got to Chimhura we had to enjoy the music as runan. Yeah. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] I hear you. So now we are in Kimura for the final laps. And the crazy part is some of the riders are not in sight anymore, which shows how this race is not for the week. Like it’s only for the legend. Yeah, it’s only for the legend because some of the riders are not in sight anymore. they decided to just stop it. Can you imagine? You know, you can feel the energy and you can see how the crowd is happy, you know, cheering for their team and so happy to see their riders still going strong and not giving up. The flags are up. South Africa, uh, Slovenia. Hey, Slovenia. Wow. It was something else. You know, it shows that, uh, someone who is still on this race is ready for that finish. Is not for the week. It’s only for the legend. Good job. Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Music] 24 who you are. We need [Music] [Music] to shoot this way. Come back this way. [Music] And we’re now for [Music] 10,000 [Music] race [Music] and on our street for addictive corner. This is [Music] 464. [Music] does it again in 2025 [Applause] home event. But it’s not over, brother. We still have more riders to come. And the podium is still not set here. Stop. Yeah, they are everywhere. That’s those people. As the race reaches its final laps, I headed to the convention center where it all started and it would end. And let me tell you, the crowd was huge and full of energy with people from all around the world just here to cheer on their riders. This is more than just a race. It’s history being made. The UCI in Africa for the first time ever and it happened right here in Randa, one of the smallest country. Can you imagine that? This is not just hosting. It’s showing the world that Randa can shine on the global stage. Yeah, it can stand on the global stage and still makes head turn. That’s true. That’s my Randa. That’s my country. And guys, let me tell you, in all those things going on, I got a chance to met some visitors seeing Randa for the first time. and they were excited to share their view on how they saw Randa for the first time and what they loved and uh how they see the country in uh UCI championship. So, let me let you guys hear it for yourself. So, like it’s your first time in Randa, right? So, how do you feel? Yes. For Ronda as a country before the champion? Yes. Um as a country, it’s I think it’s the most beautiful country I’ve ever visited in the whole world. Yes. Um the nature and the scenery is amazing. Wow. Uh and the people here are uh so gentle, so caring, so polite. Um and um we have felt so safe all the time. We have been cycling, doing the Congo trail, been to a lot of different places. Um nothing has gone as planned, but everything has gone well. What was the the first surprising thing on your time here in the most surprising thing? Yes. Um everything is very clean. Everything feels very safe. Wow. Um and that it’s possible to have people everywhere. No matter where you turn your head, there’s there’s people. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. everywhere. Super friendly. Thank you. So, how do you feel about the champion being heard in Randa in the first like as the first country in Africa? I think it’s super cool and I’m I’m really really happy that uh you’ve had it here and I think um if I am to guess I think you made the whole continent very proud. Yeah. Yeah, we did and we are very very proud asan. I’m very proud. You should for real like Thank you so much for your time. Thank you. Yeah. Yeah. It’s nice to meet you. In first place, UCI world champion and the gold medal representing Slovenia Tata. For the record, the 2025 elit men’s road race was won by Slovenia’s Kadesh Pogacha with Bijian Reiko Evano Pel in second and islands Ben Hilly in third. And for the elite women’s road race was won by magal from Canada. And uh this is more than just a race for Randa. Like Randa hosting the UCI World Championship is a true legacy moment is not only inspiring uh young riders but also bringing tourism, investment and new opportunities for the country and the moment that makes every random proud.
