So there are some wood near me that I've been given permission to build a small trail on for kids to ride. We can develop the dark shaded woods section on the middle of the map and are allowed to use the hatched raised mud bank area too. As you can see from the scale, the wooded section is just over 100m long and drops in elevation by about 10m from left to right. We cannot use the farmer's field above it ir the grass field below. I've (poorly!) sketched out two options, but mainly to show which features I'd like to include. Namely, large berms and small switchback berms; rollers and a rollable jump line; a drop section or drop line; possibly a walkway section but not skinnies! We have access to a mini digger and additional manpower! The guys helping are all seasoned groundsmen so are comfortable with moving earth and drainage. I'd be very grateful for any input on how best to fit everything in, or indeed what to not! I've added picture 5 to comply with Rule #3. Please let me know if there's a better subreddit to post this too. Many thanks

My thoughts are you can clear boughs/branches with minimal harm to the woods but when you start hacking roots you damage more. So maybe walk it and try to visualise the path a river would meander through it and use this as your least radical course? You can of course build up berm/ etc without much harm but if you want to bring in machinery then put the big works near the edges of the parcel so you limit the impact of accessing other than foot?
Sorry if you’ve thought of this already-I think there’s an opportunity to showcase how a track can be sympathetic to the land and should be embraced (also less likely for a change of heart and revoking of access)
Hey, there is group on FB called “MTB trail building”, some guys are very experienced and they been building for years. Im sure they will give you some advice!
