sadly there is nomore wide Brompton tyres (37-349) AFAIK available brand new after this one is out of production. that extra air in there could have provided a bit more comfort to the ride

Looks like the brake pads are set too high rubbing on the tire.

Glad they lasted that long and didn’t blow out while you were riding at a fast speed.
Your brake pads are definitely a tad too high. You should lower them away from the tires.

not sure what people are saying about brake pads, especially without seeing it from a different angle – the actual contact point could be spot on with the pad feet. I think if they were too high, then given my guess at your maintenance schedule, the problem that would have caused would have presented way before the side of your entire tyre blew out from normal wear and tear.

The brake pads were (and still are) spot on, the worn-out tyre wall was due to me pushing the bike a mile and a half to work with a flat and I had a heavy bag on the front.
The blow-out was due to me hitting a pot-hole.
