Im doing a trip from Paris to Hong Kong by bicycle with my trusted surly lht!
Unfortunately today the worst happened, outside of Wuhan, in china, my rear derailleur broke (shimano Deore LX) and got stuck in the wheel, Lucky me none of the spokes broke just a woobly wheel that i can fix, and i have to replace a link in the chain …it happened when i was climbing a small slope.
Long story short i had to get back to the city with all my panniers and the bike… i went to a shop and the guy told me that he have to look for a compatible derailleur and so i am stuck in wuhan for a couple days…
Which bring me the next questions.. if someone is kind enough to reply 🙂
1) what can cause the derailleur to broke ? Broke at the H limit screw, im running a 3×9 speeds and always take the time to tune the derailleur and always used the indexing mode not the friction one with my bar end shifters
2)what modern available rear derailleur are compatible with my old broken Deore LX RD-T661?
3) can i reuse my old chain ? (Nearly new had 100km in it) the guy at the shop told me no
