This came with the bleed kit I ordered, along with 10 threaded brass hose fittings, hoses, syringes. Yeah, the common stuff. I get the purpose off all items except this one. The side with the o-ring has neither threads nor a cavity, but it's like … a poke stick! Strikes me as weird but that is of course just because I'm unfamiliar with it. So please, can someone explain? π

Plunger for the funnel.
Itβs a plunger for a Shimano bleed cup I believe!! Saw it for the first time at the CB bike park in August, it helps getting annoying trapped air out of a Shimano system. Somebody correct me if Iβm wrong!
You insert it into the cup that screws into the hoods to stop fluid leaking when when you remove the cup.
It enables you to stop/start the flow of hydraulic fluid out of the funnel/reservoir thing. Pull it out to start flow, stick it in to cease flow.
It blocks the hole at the bottom of the funnel.
That’s the plunger. It’s used to close the hole at the bottom of the funnel, so you can remove the funnel from the brake lever without it leaking oil.

When you put the funnel on the lever you fill it with fluid once all the air comes out the top you put the plunger in the funnel so you don’t spill the fluid
It’s a plug for the cup so you don’t spill oil everywhere out the bottom when you take the cup off the lever.
You accidentally leave it in when trying to bleed then watch it fly across the room π
Have you ever watched a video of how to do a brake bleed?
When you read the instructions, it clearly labels this part and how and when to use it.
