I got this nice Ritchey WCS carbon cross fork for a deal, but unfortunately, it seems my TRP CX8.4 brakes won't fit on the bosses. The brake won't sit fully on the boss and the return spring doesn't seat in the hole. Fortunately, the bosses are threaded, so I may be able to find a different style (suggestions welcome), but I'm not sure what to do for the return spring hole. Maybe I could sandwich one of those spring plates in there behind the brake boss to use instead?

Bosses can get a bit deformed from overtightening the brake bolt, they kind of expand, that might be the reason why you can’t seat the brake all the way. You could try and use some sandpaper to get bosses a bit thiner.
This looks to be the bike that the fork came from or similar, 2010 to 2013 era I believe.

I am old and been tinkering for a very long time and i have never ever heard of a proprietary cantilever brake boss. I don’t think there’s a compatibility issue, something else is wrong like damaged threads etc.
