I’m assuming I’m supposed to fit the sprocket over the race at the end of the spindle making it flush with the bolt mount. I thought I ordered the parts correctly, but looks like I missed the mark on the sprocket.. odyssey thunderbolt, profile racing 28t

Yes (your crankset has a built in hat spacer). You went by spindle size wich would have been perfect if it didn’t have that feature.
Yes. Odyssey cranks take a 22mm sprocket. Most other brands take a 19mm. Cheap sprockets are drilled to 22 with a steel adapter to drop it to 19mm.
