I’m looking for a new road bike and stuck between two options. Either the Bianchi infinito or the argon krypton.

Currently I’m ride a Rocky Mountain solo 30 gravel bike pretty much exclusively on road rides. I’ve been wanting to upgrade to a proper road bike for a while now. I like my current bike OK but have ridden it for 5 years now, want to switch to a 2x so I can keep up on sprints and breakaways in group rides. I’m not racing but like to do climbs and fast group rides but also like long solo rides.

I like the Bianchi infinito and a shop near me has one in my size for $2800. It seems to check the boxes. But also online, there’s an argon 18 kypton for under $2000. Both have mid tier mech drivetrains. My concern with the argon is that it is marketed as an all-road / light gravel bike, which is what I’m trying to get away from. However, the geometry seems to suggest for my size, the argon would have a similar drop to the Bianchi. My other concern is that the argon has clearance for up to 40mm. On my current bike I run 32s but feel like the fork is chunky and far off the wheels (not sure if its just aesthetic but something I dislike)

Anyone know these bikes or have suggestions?
Any other bikes I should consider? I know polygon offers some very affordable options and have had good mtb from them but didn’t love the branded wheels.

As far as I can tell the Argon’s idea of “all road” is endurance road bike geometry that can fit 40s if you want. Rather than trying to be a gravel bike in any way. So they will probably fit similarly and the Krypton has a standard round seatpost and more standard stem so you can probably engineer yourself a better fit for a little less money if you wanted.

Overall I’m just a bit of a sucker for Argon 18 I like their stuff and I think things like downtube storage and mounting points are never a bad thing to have should you want to turn this into a more casual bike when you upgrade again in X years

  2. I have a 2022 Infinito CV and absolutely love riding it around. Its comfortable, as a novice rider, to do a century. I average 17.5-19mph solo and 19+ with another rider. I have no experience in group rides. I upgraded to a carbon wheelset and bars which increased my average speed. I also went to a 1x Garbaruk drivetrain and sram red cassette with no regrets. To me, it’s the perfect balance of speed and comfortable geometry. I also have a bad back and the geometry still allows me to do 30+ mile rides regularly. I have no comment on the argon.
