Hey guys, I just put a new chain on my bike after my old one broke and ever since then my derailleur has been getting pulled forward every once in a while when I pedal, it makes it feel like it’s free wheeling for a second and then it catches again. It does it in all gears, except for the largest rear cog. Including a video showing what it does. Anybody have any ideas how to remedy this? Im kinda retarded with multi gear drivetrains, ridden BMX most of my life so my understanding of derailleurs is similar to my understanding of astrophysics.
Why is my derailleur being pulled forward?

I think it looks like a damaged free hub/freewheel not spinning freely
Good result would be a stiff link somewhere on your chain?
Or more likely your cassette is so worn that the new chain can’t mesh with the teeth of the cogs, in which case you’ll need to replace the cassette.
Check your chain links for stiffness
I would try peddling backwards and look for a stiff link. It could be the freehub/freewheel is sticking as well.
What happens under load when you ride it? Take a test ride and put down as many watts as you can in each gear. If it’s skipping then it’s a new cassette.
Ben hanger.
Is it trying to jump up or down to the next gear? If so it’s probably the indexing. Give it 1/2 turn in one direction on the barrel adjuster. See if it’s better or worse. If it’s worse give it a 1/2 in the opposite direction (so 1 whole turn from the position after attempt 1)
Chain to small need more links
Stiff link. I had thick slicks and hated them, rock hard and zero traction , conti urban contact are 10x better for slicks.
