Today’s video is a little taster of what’s to come from a wonderful 9 days in the Stelvio National Park and the Dolomites, back in July 2024. I also show the first 2 days acclimatizing to altitude in the Bormio region, and leave you on day 3 as Paul, Tony and I are about to be confronted by the Mortirolo, 11km at 11% !

welcome one and all to cycl tourism without Mercy masquerading as bike racing without mercy and as promised in the last video I’ve been busy editing so here we’ve gone back in time with the first of a series of videos to share my Little Adventures and events over July and August and you see here a taster of my time in Italy iconic climbs and Good Times building up to the famous grand Fondo maratona and over the next couple of months I’ll share a series of videos and Vlogs some short some longer some beautiful and even hopefully a couple informative plus I’ll break out two longer beautiful multicamera edits one for the maratona and a second contrasting but no less spectacular homemade event that I’ve always wanted to complete we also showcase all of the weathers and naturally there’s plenty of chaos and a few Thrills and Spills along the way oh physics that’s physics to the climbers the vs and the spoils look at that a tiny Taste of the maratona here but we’re about to Port across to bouro for the inaugural Vlog charting the first 3 days in Italy before quickly moving on to a second video a beautiful day confronted by the Relentless morti Rolo 11 km at 11% and then falling in love with the mesmerizing garia queen of course to the stelia well welcome to day one in Italy in a buildup to the marona at top the umbr pass now first thing this morning Top Cat his partner Allison Paul hambler and myself we ascended from bouro down there all the way up here and another 4 km to the top of the stelvio nice easy climb just to let the legs kind of get into the groove after the flight and the travel now I then decided to descend all the way back down and then come back up here to the umre pass just to open up the lungs a little bit more I tried a bit of tempo and in all honesty it was a bit of a struggle I had a couple of nice blocks at 220 but towards the well the final third of the climb I was struggling to hold kind of 200 to 210 and I often find that that is the case immediately after any flight no matter what the length whether it’s 2 hours 3 hours or more but also staying at altitude we’re sleeping in bouro which is about 1300 m that definitely just raises the heart rate a little bit so I always think ahead of a big event it’s good to come out just that bit early just to a climatize and get the legs used to climbing on these bigger climbs out a bit of altitude anyway time to go back down carb up and have a little bit of fun for the grand fondos with the big climbs there’s two tips that I am Resolute on number one nice gearing a 34 in a rear is going to help the Cadence when you get fatigued makes a difference number two if you can a climate to the altitude pre- event again you’ll see a tangible Improvement so Tony did you enjoy your intervals on the can Cano yes it was an epic Climer epic it was indeed epic I was tapping out an infernal Tempo on perceived effort I figure out what the power is at the bottom of the climb but Tony he was deploying shock and or power orbe it blunt by his standards up and down up and down backwards and forwards it was a sight to behold as always but you feel feeling the altitude a bit aren’t you yes yes feeling feeling down yeah we’re hoping day three is going to usher in an age of a climatization with the altitude anyway that can Cano is a proper gem here right near bouro there’s the V and the AOS and a top Cano why present this and Cano delivers another Sublime surprise I mean turquoise do you like turquoise here ton is color coordinated check it out there we go Moody Italian Swiss elves Moody I think my new glasses I got two different lenses I think these are green so I think think they well they should be green are they showing up as green I don’t know but hopefully I too have color coordinated with the reservoir you join Paul Tony and I on route to the Beast that is the Morty Rolo starting from ma Deval Lina and I hope that you’re going to enjoy seeing what lurks in inside its forest in the next video but for now I’m sure we can all agree that days like these Mak zift so so much sweeter in the winter and please do check out the last video I posted showing the end of my season in a beautiful xmore national park for a full gas weekend of climbing stunning and I mean premium stunning Hills please do check it out it’s a lovely little film that’s going to make you want to go there

OMG Phil! This is truly epic. I’m going to try and tackle the Stelvio next year. Your videos inspire me and get me excited for what’s to come. I did the Galibier from Telegraphe this year and all I could think was “I wish I had that electric bike Jane had!”
Bombarded with views 🤩🤩

Spectacular Phil! 😊
Does your friend like his aethos?
Looking forward to getting caught up on your summer adventures as the series rolls out thanks for sharing
don't think middlesbrough city council can compete with views like this.
fun fact. statistic recently published in the dailymail. 80% of british men aged 50-60 are overweight/obese. you're letting the side down, lovett. suggest you go directly to greggs. do not pass go. help england get to a perfect score.
My dear friend Phillip. Excellent video. Thank you very much my friend. I continue to watch with pleasure. By the way, you look incredibly fit, congratulations. You are pedaling stronger than before. Super. I watched it while drinking coffee :))) Also greetings to my sister Jane. See you in new videos my friend. Ride safely. Have fun. Healthy and happy days. #bikeracingwithoutmercy
