In this video we check out the progress on Duke street, Wellpark street and Melbourne street then I head through town to Byres road to see if they have started work on the north section. After that I stop for a coffee at the old rail yards then head up west princess street to St Georges road to see if they have started work on the next phase. After that we have a look at Cowcaddens road before ending the video. It’s getting more exciting as we see these projects gaining momentum. We really need to see connecting Govan the Inner North and Inner South starting to really get the city cycling and for everyone to start getting the benefits for years to come.

Morning. It’s Friday the 29th of August and I’m going to be going looking at some infrastructure today. So, first up, I’m going to head down to Juke Street. [Music] Well, the first things I noticed is that since my last visit, last video, the bucks moved over to the other side of the road. That’s a good thing. These pavements look absolutely fantastic. Look at that. Although that’s a bit shabby. Junction John No Street. We’ll probably leave this one to last, just a guess. So, I’ve just come back for Juke Street. parallel with the tenants factory. This is Will Park Street. This looks great. So, they’ve been working on this. Well, they’ve kind of completed this, but this is part of the avenues plus which the strands are funding. And then as well as well park street, we’ve got well bum street here. And quite a cool recycle area on this. So the inclusion of these raised tables before and after this junction helps with people crossing the road, slows down traffic to the speed it’s meant to be going. And then when you go further along, you got the bridge along the other. the cycle lane stops and hopefully that’s going to carry on to the end of the street. I think it will because you can see a double yellow line there already at the where the houses have been built. So just further along before you get to Bel Grove Street Junction, you can see all the works going on at this residential bit. Superb. Yeah, let’s get a drone up. [Music] Hey. Hey. Hey. [Music] [Music] This grand building is situated at 176 Juke Street and is a former Sydney Place United Presbyterian Church built in 1858 by Ped and Kenny. where it remained a place of worship until 1975. After then, it became a day center for homeless men until a fire force closure in 1986. The building was renovated in 2000 as an extension to the Well Park Enterprise Center. Hopefully, this preserves it for people to enjoy for years to come. What an interesting building. I think I need to investigate. So that’s what’s happening in Juke Street just now. Obviously there’s work at the top of John No Street, but that’s mostly to do with the pavements getting done. No recycling. So when that gets they start recycling on that, I’ll do a video for that. Now I’m going to head along to the other side of the city, buyers road. [Music] [Music] I wasn’t expecting the work to have already started. I was coming down here to actually criticize it. Traffic tail backs in every direction, but they’re getting the what I would say is a difficult part out the way. These junction, this junction here between Bayer’s Road and University Avenue. Hey, that was great. Just went to Upland’s Roast in the Old Railards, I think it’s called, for coffee and a we cookie. Highly recommend by the way. New see what’s happening on St. George’s Road. Look at some more stuff. [Music] As you can see, the junction is being worked on just now and the start of the two birectional cycle lane up gas tube road has begun. Great news. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Right. That was hilarious. Scary at the same time. Scary at the same time. I was just uh getting this footage here of Kardan’s road and the drone low battery warning return to home promptly then just started landing itself in that building site there. I brought it back but I managed to go over and just kind of manually steer it back onto the pavement here. Lesson learned. Lesson learned. Anyway, that was good to get a shot of Kakad’s road in the junction. Seagulls are still going absolutely berserk because I was flying the drone. That was good to get some footage of the road and the junction at top of West Nail Street. I know it’s no West Nail Street. It turns into something else there. And that’s everything for today. I hope you’ve enjoyed this video. I am now going to go and have some breakfast, start editing this. Until next time, all it’s left to say is thanks for watching. See you next time.

  1. I've not been along Duke St for a few months. Good to see progress there. Must check out Uplands Roast next time I'm passing. Really appreciate your updates and historical snippets too 👍

  2. Your dedication to filming all these videos of the cycle lane improvements is so so impressive and you’ve edited and posted it so quickly . Amazing work , well done ! Loving all the drone footage aswell 😊

  3. I know I've mentioned this before, but…from my time as a bike courier in the early nineties; what a difference! Duke St was part of my commute to base, and it's not much of an exaggeration to say it used to be like Mad Max crossed with Death Race 2000. The city and west end was my stamping ground, of a working day, and i have some interesting memories of the Medical Records Unit in the Western, which was tucked into the hospital's buildings close to that University Ave – Byres Road crossroads.
