I’ve been riding my Sirrus X 3.0 2021 for several months now. I fit it with Maxxis Ramblers to ride off road. I love this bike for its light weight, helps in getting it over fences etc. I love that it’s a rigid front fork.

I ride it mostly on single track, but also a lot of rutted up pasture, muddy creek and rocky hillsides etc. (second pic)

However, I’m riding through this stuff fast and furious and there is a lot of chatter. And so I’m wondering – I’m having a great time and I’m keeping the bike tuned and clean, but am I actually doing damage to the bike in the long run? Wrong bike for the job?

Or should I just keep on smashing it.

Cheers!

  1. Your bike will last a lot longer if you don’t take it out of the package

No idea how much damage you are doing to it, but you should just keep enjoying it.

  2. If things are really rattling, figure out what it is and do something like tape it down or zip tie it.

But basically your bike will be fine. It’s not a jewel.

  3. Before they were mountain bikes and gravel bikes there were bikes. You are riding and enjoying yours and maintaining it. If you ride a lot of rough terrain I would ask your bike mechanic how to check the bike BEFORE you ride to make sure everything is tight and safe and ready to ride. With that knowledge and provided you do a quick pre-ride check, enjoy riding your bike!

Your bike is serving you well and you’re maintaining it. From your photo it looks like it’s in decent shape.

Sure, it will last a bit longer if you only ride it on the boulevard on warm fall days. But why would you do that? Boring.

    Rubber side down!

  5. Your bike will be fine. Unless you go over the bars and it goes tumbling down a mountain, but in that case, your body is probably in worse shape.

Not what you are asking, but it sounds and looks like a lot of fun. I hope you’re enjoying it.
