I made this backpack mount for my gravel bike and would love to get your opinions on it.
Maybe I would make it into a product.
This is just a custom prototype made for my bike and I’m testing it now around Italy and France.
The idea is that you can have your favorite 20-30L backpack easily and rigidly mounted underneath the seat without needing to have a rear panier. Also, it’s wide enough that you can have a 14” laptop in it and not be scared that it would get hit on the side.
To make it universal for any bike would be a challenge. I have put a lot of thought into it but it would be good to hear your opinions.
Altogether it weighs less then 300g and that could be cut down a bit more.

Have a look at aeroe much better solution
Personally for 20-30 litters and a laptop I would go for panniers mounted lower. Too much weight and volume that high up for me.
Dude, get a trailer

Very close to the tyre if it slips
I like the ability to mount a backpack but I think you have an unhappy medium here. You need frame mounts (easily solved) and seat post space and it blocks you getting your weight back. The trips I’m bringing a backpack for are the most technical. A carbon version of the mica rack with a bag cradle would come in at a similar weight and preserve dropper functionality.
The large panel/fender is a great touch. It’s easy to wear holes when dirt gets between the bag and whatever it’s strapped to. Consider PP for the fender rather than carbon, if you can bond it reliably. It would be cheaper and more resistant to rocks you kick up.
Question is, why? At this point just put it on top of a rear rack.
A: How much wiggle room so you want?
This guy: No
