Do you have rim tape installed on your wheel? The puncture could’ve came from the nipple or spoke.
Could be a variety of reasons. Sidewalls are typically weaker than the contact surface of a tire, that being said I’d call that a slash rather than a puncture. If you don’t have a noticeable slash in the tire – then it’s either a pinch flat or just a weak manufactured tube – which happens from time to time
Try a new rim tape, they do need replacing over time
If there are two holes like a snakebite, it could be underinflated tires and hitting a curb or something would pinch the tube on the rim
Where the tube meets the wheel there should be “rim tape” to protect the tube from the bits of the wheel where the spokes come through. Check that for damage.
Otherwise, it could be the tube was pocking through between the tyre and the rim and got pinched.
Or you ram the tyre soft/ hit an edge of something while riding and for a “snake bite” type puncture.
I’ve had this issue for awhile. My problem is my rim tape that covers all the spoke holes where the tube wraps around, there was a gap and it pinched the inner part of the tube like that.
Id line up that tube again with the wheel to see if its a possibility.

Pinch flat – the tire had low air pressure, you hit a bump and the tube gets pinched between the rim and the ground.
OR
Your rim strip or rim tape has moved and you have en exposed nipple or rim hole that is rubbing on the tube.
Looks like a pinch flat to me. Worth checking rim tape too. Try to send a LITTLE less hard. 😉 that or more air pressure in tire.
It looks like it was pinched in between the tire and the rim here. Some times it can pinch between the tape and the tube too. It can also be debris on the inside.
I agree with all of these folks that suggest a pinch flat and just add that temperature can do this as well if the spokes get hot enough or go through hot and cold extremes for enough time.
Definitely check your rim tape. I had several punctures last year until I finally figured out the cause. Chalked it up to bad luck until I actually investigated the growing number of damaged tubes and realized they were all damaged from the inside, and in roughly the same place.
Could be damaged rim tape or torn/ripped and rubber is hard at a corner and picking at the tube or a damaged spoke nut in there poking thru, just debris. I have also pinched my tires from too low pressure and going over a curb but that is usually two punctures. On my MTB I just keep the front at 30 psi and 50 on the rear since I do a lot of road also. The 30 is good for me and can get thru bumbs and curbs without issues.
Aside from rim tape/ strip as many have commented be sure to have the right amount of air , running tires low will have a similar result ? Snake bite /pinch flat.
I once got multiple flats in one ride because my plastic rim tape got brittle and started to break into shards. I’ve also had a spoke nipple misbehave, and a manufacturing flaw at the valve hole in the rim that ate a couple stems.
Could be a nipple, could be a burr on a spoke hole poking through rim tape, or it could have been a twisted tube. Also depending on the rim it could be a pinch. A narrow rim will have the potential for that.
Could be a pinch flat , from a curb or sudden rock.
