Bought a used bike, and the pedal came off during my first ride. Looked like the threading in the crank arm is completely stripped. Metal shavings were sitting in the thread as well. I would like to not have to replace the entire crank shaft since it looks pricey, but most universal crank arms don't look like they'll fit. I found some that look like the correct shape but how do I figure out the appropriate size? Nothing on the current parts indicates a size. TIA

Buy a two piece crank and an external bottom bracket.
Usually the arm length will be stamped on the back side of the crank arm. If not you can measure the center point of the peddle to the center point of bottom bracket holes. That’ll give you the mm length.
