Hey guys. I’ve just bought a 2nd hand 2018 Giant Propel Advanced, well looked after and had a few upgrades.
It was around 3 hours away from where I live but my friend happened to be going there so I asked him to collect (he’s into bikes more than me). He viewed, tested and confirmed that the bike is good and I made payment.
Long story short, he put the bike on his roof rack but for some reason he forgot that it was there and drove onto a height restrictor barrier… he said he was going slow but the force bent his aluminium Thule roof rack which smashed his rear window. Bike obviously got damaged as it was the one that made contact with the barrier, but visually there isn’t much.
There’s scratches on the brake levers and damage on the down tube where the Thule roof rack was supporting the bike. There now appears to be paint cracking on this area.
I’ve done the coin tap check and tried applying pressure on the area and all seems to be ok, will get a second opinion tomorrow.
Is this actually only paint cracking or is this a sign that the carbon is cracked? The paint is starting to chip and lines have appeared around the area. Would appreciate any insights, thank you!
