My friend has one of those cheap junk 80lb folding steel hub motor fatbikes, thing is pretty heavy and junky and his chaoyang or whatever tires plus Tannus armor are really heavy too. But I love how they glide over everything compared to 29×2.25 etc tires. 16/20 seems really ideal. Was thinking of a custom fabricated either full size lightweight bike frame using smaller tires like that or a compact minivelo type. But are there any lightweight, low rolling resistance, tubeless tires? I am riding urban and need as much puncture protection as possible, and the Tannus armor rides like crap and they say it shreds up inner tubes and mucks up your whole wheel . Schwalbe doesn’t make fat stuff, so I figured tubeless is a good option as the latex acts like slime but better and I can run at even lower psi. Or some kind of tire with integrated kevlar or better yet foam guard would be good. The Tannus they say doesn’t sit well as an aftermarket insert. Also Tannus only makes 20 at its lowest size.
I love how much lighter a fatbike and it’s tires can be vs a dirt bike but I need real puncture protection 24/7
