A guide to riding one of the worlds most beautiful bike tours.

[Music] [Music] so if you’re anything like me and you’re watching a bicycle touring video right now probably means that you’re researching a bike trip that you want to do or possibly the exact one that I did so I thought I’d go through some of the details and get get that over with the start my mom and I did this bike trip late April early May and it was from Venice to Munich was about 350 Mi or 560 km and we did about 40 m or 60 km a day which equal to a 9-day trip usually this is a little bit less mileage than we usually do but I think for a trip like this where there’s just so much to see you’re in the uh dolomites um and also the incline that it was probably the perfect amount to do every day if you’re researching this online you’ll find that most people usually do the Munich to Venice Direction South and that is because the incline goes down of course to sea level at Venice or even below sea level what Denice is at now [Music] heading up north from Venice if you’re looking to free Camp there’s not a lot of places to really stop there’s some really nice Italian towns along the way some interesting things to see but your first real place for free camping is going to be in the mountains right before you hit the Alps and that’s where we free Camp the first [Music] night heading out of Venice about 100 miles north you hit a lake called Lake s croch has a nice camping spot there so it’s nice place to start the entrance to the dolomites um heading about 30 Mi North some nice Scenic Place place to see we hit up a [Music] winery [Music] [Music] [Music] this [Music] [Music] yeah just headed through the dilom mites it’s very beautiful um stayed at a campsite last night on another Lake not much more to say than the delites are really [Music] impressive [Music] yeah [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh [Music] it’s a nice beautiful day today heading towards the town of brunck after getting through the delites canyon are turns into this Farmland pastoral alentine view the roads switch from gravel to on road sometimes streets but it’s mostly Gravel [Music] Road it’s just a very idealic route when you think of the Alps goes along water and Fields and old uh Tyran houses uh brunick is a nice town has a castle and all the mountain a craon you could think [Music] of Road throughout the day and found a campsite called Garn SE it’s kind of weird cuz the campsite doesn’t really have any flat field so everyone camping there is at like pretty much an angle but might be worth it I don’t know might be more worth the free Camp going across brener pass today and it’s quite uphill as you can probably hear from my excessive breathing one interesting thing to not is uh the campsite last night I was talking to this guy and he did the more uh North to South Route and we’re doing kind of a uh loop around uh east to west and then um North up to runer p ass and he was saying that the North to South Route hasn’t been that interesting it mostly goes just follows the road you could hear the freeway the entire time and in my experience from this like kind of roundabout area that we went through the dolomites east to west um you didn’t really ever see the freeway and it was nicely marked path and everything so yeah I think maybe we went on the right [Music] route here you go it’s an Italian por have you been waiting for me for like 2 [Music] hours [Music] don’t [Music] [Music] before you hit lake aeny or after depending on which way you’re going um you’re going to hit a huge hill and for us that was about an all day ride just it might have not even been that many mileage maybe 20 mil or so but yeah it’s almost seem like it straight up 45° you’re an inspiration here I’ll trade you but it makes up for it with a bar at the top so yeah have a beer so that’s the automatic record um then the button to the left is just the on and off [Music] button um lake ainy is really nice there’s some nice camping there and it’s kind of the end of the forested mountain area at the end of the Alps so yeah from then on North up to Munich it’s uh it gets more Suburban [Applause] obviously we decided to go want more Farm Trails cuz some of the larger roads back up to Munich can get kind of hectic with all the trucks that was a great timing if you’re thinking about going on this trip it’s beautiful it’s uh accommodating there’s a lot of things to see a lot of places to stay and it’s fairly well marked you know especially if you just have to route on your phone so yeah I say if you’re thinking about doing it just go for it it was a trip for Lifetime
