Hi all,
Long-time lurker, first time poster. This forum is a great resource!
I’m having a maintenance issue and I’m hoping that one of you can tell me how to address it.
I bought the T-line recently, but some skipping (or popping) has started to occur as I’ve been breaking it in. It happens when the bike is in gear 1, 2, and 3, but not in gear 4. I think that I know what’s causing the problem and I suspect that I can fix it with a small adjustment, but I’m not sure how to make that adjustment.
In the attached 19-second video, I shift from gear 1 to 4 and back again. As you’ll see, the skipping or popping is at its worst in gear 1 and doesn’t happen in gear 4.
My diagnosis: I think that the pulley isn’t moving the chain far enough to the left and, as a result, the sprocket teeth and chain are misaligning. The pop or skip occurs when the chain and the gear drop into the right alignment. (The chain is very clean and the pulley teeth seem fine).
My questions:
— Does my diagnosis of the problem seem correct?
— If so, how do I make the appropriate adjustment to the derailleur?
Thanks so much!
Ps. For anyone curious, I love the T-line: it’s stupidly expensive, but the light weight and sporty feel is amazing. I use it for getting around the city exclusively and it’s great for these purposes.
