UK Seasides – Eastbourne with John Cull

A visit to Eastbourne on England’s south coast.

I’m spending an afternoon on the south coast in [Music] eastborn eastborn is on England’s South Coast it’s about 90 minutes on the train from London the station is grade two listed and was rebuilt in 1886 the rebuilt structure features a Ved canopy and Lantern roof in August 1958 a Glasgow 2 eastborn sleeper train collided with a London Bridge service killing five and leaving 22 with serious injuries next to the railway station is the modern Beacon Shopping Center in born has a population of around 104,000 there are lots of small shops and restaurants along this road which heads to the seafront and Pier [Music] [Music] [Music] okay in April 1865 the eastborn Pier company was formed and the pier was completed in 1872 during the second world war decking was removed to host machine guns to provide a useful vantage point to repel enemy Landings a 1,000 seat theater on the pier was then destroyed by fire in 1970 and was replaced with an evening entertainment venue that has since become home to Atlantis nightclub and the Waterfront Cafe Bar in 2014 the pier caught fire again this time destroying the large arcade and saloons in the Midway after this the buildings were then dismantled and it was created into an open deck area [Music] the ditto mini train will take you to many of e spawn sites I bought these tasty chips from the pier chippy [Music] well that was my trip to eastborn hope you enjoyed the video don’t forget to subscribe and I’ll see you next time
