The best kind of new bike day. This is my fifth or sixth time doing a bike build, but my first (touch wood) where I think I have every small part and tool needed to build it in one go.
- Fairlight Strael 4.0 frame and fork in stealth black
- Reserve 50-50 wheelset with DT 370 hubs running Schwalbe Pro One 34mm tubeless (still not sure about these wheels, might swap them out for something shallower but wider and ideally lighter like Elitewheels Edge Gravel or Reserve 40-44). Also considering Pirelli Cinturato Velo 35mm tires for the winter, possibly with full length mudguards
- Shimano GRX 825 Di2 groupset. This was taken off my gravel bike when I converted to 1x (added new Ultegra levers and calipers). Considering a crankset switch as ideally I'd go for 50-34 on a roadbike rather than 48-31. But to make it officially compatible with the GRX front derailleur and wider chainline I'd have to look at my options, maybe carbon from China with a power meter, or a bodge and make Ultegra work.
- Zipp Service Course XPLR alu bars, stem and seatpost, Selle Italia Boost SLR saddle

That’s a very British-looking build (i.e. all black). Don’t worry, you almost always end up needing some tool or small part. I’m running the slightly older Cinturato TLR on my all weather bike, they’re pretty much puncture-proof and last for a long time. Wet grip is not as good as with GP5000AS.
As a fellow Fairlight rider, huge thumbs up! Good luck with the build!
built up my Strael 4.0 last month and put on 325 miles so far. Love this bike!
I also have the zipp xplr bars and GRX groupset. I actually prefer the lower gearing for my local climbs. I have al DT swiss wheels but have been shopping carbon wheels as of late.
My dream bike! Don’t know if I’ll ever actually pull the trigger on one with these new tariffs (in USA).
Yeah, we’re gonna need to see some updates on this one.
Not because I just ordered a Strael 4.0 in Ochre, or that Cyclingnews gave it 10/10 today, but just because they are gorgeous.
I have the white Strael 4.0. I was one of the first to get in the states back in January. Absolutely incredible bike. Congrats. You will love it.
Love my Strael 4.0! Build spec sounds tasty. Enjoy.
Exciting. I built one of these and it didn’t really fit me (cus I’m dumb) but it was such a nice looking bike.
Congrats. I just finished my stealth build. Same color headset too. Was inspired by the lookbook. It’s an incredible machine
