let’s see what this fresh watermelon does to my blood sugar this is 8 oz of fresh watermelon it’s got 60 calories 15 G of carbohydrates and 1 g of protein and there’s only 1 G of fiber in this watermelon so I’m wondering what it’s going to do to my blood sugar let’s give it a try to see what happens all right it’s been a couple of hours since I’ve had the watermelon let’s have a look at the glucose monitor to see what actually happened wow there’s quite a spike here this went up by 49 mg and that is quite high but you should notice here as well too that the spike went up very quickly and then back down quickly as well it was only a short spike because this watermelon is high in liquid and low in fiber it gets into your system rather quickly but that insulin kicks in and brings that blood sugar down so in the future I shouldn’t be eating this watermelon by itself I should have paired it with some additional proteins fats and fibers by having a meal beforehand and having the watermelon for dessert remember that individual results will vary especially

  1. Thanks for showing…… I eat fresh seeded watermelon two to three times nearly everyday in summer. The insulin spike is np, its not too high. Do not eat fat with watermelon. What is he talking about .. Eat half a watermelon if you want.

  2. Try eating close to the green rind next time to get more fiber from the watermelon and then text your bloodsugar to see if this made the difference. Most people onlybeat the red oart qhen they can also eat close down as possible to the green rind for more fiber.

  3. Watermelon or for that matter any juicy fruit should not be had just after major meal. It is just not conducive to digestion and it leads to undigested food. Over time this can clog the energy channels. This has been known for centuries in the east. Bad idea!

  4. Are you a diet? Why do you do this? Are you a diabetic? I’m not sure what the purpose is unless you’re struggling with blood sugar because it seems like your insulin is working fine if it took down the sugar so quickly.

  5. Do you have any evidence to prove that insulin spikes are a negative health effect?. All my research has shown me that sustained insulin spikes are concerning.
Because the body cannot assimilate the required glycogen into the cells via the insulin receptors. Besides that, who cares about short insulin spikes?

  6. I saw a comment from someone with ibs who said they eat watermelon everyday to help their ibs .I replied that it was spiking their blood sugar ,but they didn't understand the problem .
