  1. Is looks deeper than just a surface scratch from this image, but would be easier to tell if you post a more close up picture. Is there any give or noises in the area if you press on it with just your fingers?

  2. That is broken.

Hit on the side of seatstay, spider webbed enough to pop paint off the top of the seatstay.

That’s broken OP. You’re either looking at carbon repair, which is totally doable, or a new frame. Sorry for your troubles 😕

  4. Did that happen without you being aware of a particular insult? If it’s due to normal use, it’s covered by warranty.

  5. I have many chunks out of my seat stays, but no carbon damage. The paint and filler is gone, but the exposed carbon is not damaged ((yours looks white as though the epoxy has been pounded). Also the fact that it’s gone around the corner to the other side says it got hit really hard and the carbon has given way.

You could take some better photos but currently high confidence the carbon is compromised.

  6. Not good, but you get to build a new frame set up now 👍. Maybe get the next one with a bit of Chromium and Molybdenum and keep it forever.

  7. Don’t ride it. Get it repaired. If you don’t care about paint matching, it can be pretty cheap.

  8. Take it to a shop so they can check. Or if you want to try at home press on the paint damage and if it feels squishy its compromised and if it’s not your good. I’ve seen carbon frames take some nasty hits and come out ok

shouldn’t be more than a couple hundred bucks repair. Either repair or replace, depending on frame cost and how you feel about the frame.

  10. You can buy carbon fibre repair kits from reputable sellers. Follow the instructions.
I have repaired two similar cracks in a seat stay. 100% fixed.
