90s era cromoly bottom bracket cracked?

I’m reconditioning a 90s era GT Cirque I just recently picked up off marketplace.

Removed the bottom bracket and noticed this seemingly older crack? It runs through the threads and you can see some light rust. I only took it for a spin once and didn’t notice any creaking. Is this a crack/failure? Or an artifact of the manufacturing? Basically asking if I need a new project 😂
