Arriving in Spain for the Contador Sportive, warm up ride time and hitting my 12k total miles for the year, no better place to do it! Unfortunately I’m not 100% with a cold, but not as bad as Kyle who didn’t double check he had everything when packing his bike!

Hola, buenes das. It is 1:57 in the PM. I’ve been up since 3:00 a.m., hence the look. But we are in Espanola. We’re in Oliver, which is near Calpe. We’re here with Cams, and it’s absolutely baking, but it’s great. Kyle’s here, the one and only. Mhm. Putting his bike together. Well, your bike. Your Well, actually, yeah, Kyle’s on my bike today, the X7, taking the trip out. And my bike here, Pani aka Panta the dogma, is ready to be unleashed. We are here with Cams who are the Cycling Accident Management Service. They’re the people that helped me out when I was hit by a car. I think over a year, like 2 years ago now. Yeah. Basically, if you were ever hit by a car, they’re the people to go to. Um, they sort you out, new bike, everything like that. And now I’m an ambassador for them. So, we get to come on trips like this. We’re here for the Conidor Sportive. Actually, it’s a Grand Fondo, so a bit more serious, but we won’t be taking it serious. Um, that’s tomorrow. Tomorrow, 8:00 a.m. start. But we’ve just got here. So, we’re going to unpack the bikes, go on a little spin. I am sounding a bit husky because I’ve been in bed for the last two days with a bad cold. And unfortunately, I’m not 100% better yet. Normally, I wouldn’t ride when I feel like this, but I am not missing out on the blue sky of Spain and whatever that squeaking sound is. So, I’m just going to get the tablets in me and crank on. And by tablets, I mean the Norphan Extra. Okay. How you feeling left at 3:00 a.m. get up? All right. Now, I’ve just got to put this together. Put that together now. Oh, I hate your bike box. It’s a bit annoying, isn’t it? Yeah, it’s a bit pain. You have to take the handlebars off. Mine, on the other hand, all you’d have to do is take the wheels off. It’s great. It’s on this like metal rack in the bottom. Very cocky. I’m a bit cocky cuz all I have to do is take the wheels off. So, anyway, I can be cocky cuz you passed me on this blooming cold, Kyle. Kyle had it all week and then he’s passed it to me. But I’ve had two days in bed, so I have rested and hopefully lots of fruit and veg and water and I’ll be okay. Although I’m feeding the heat a lot more than normally cuz keep having hot flushes. But anyway, I’m going to crank on now because I could waffle on all day. Oh, also we are back in the land of Pepal. Pepe lal little little if you don’t know what that means. Last time we came to Calpe in February with Kyle and we went past a shop called Pepe Lasal and that’s where the original Pepe Lal song originated from. So yeah, Kyle, I won’t put your forks on the floor like that on my bike, please. I’ve got no choice. You have got a choice. Don’t you want me to hold it? Yeah, I’ll hold it cuz I do not want you putting the forks on the floor. Don’t put the forks on on the grass. It’s fine. What’s the grass going to do? The grass might damage it. You’re having a laugh. Yeah, we are having a laugh. You’ll be having a laugh if you break my bike. Grass is not going to damage it. Yeah, it could do. All right, let go now. I can’t do anything while you’re holding it. I can’t watch that. Right. Voila. My bike is ready. Did they say that in Spanish? I’m not sure. She’s ready to go. But unfortunately, Kyle’s having a little bit of an issue. He’s left apparently a clear plastic sandwich bag with some key things in at home. So, what what’s happened, Kyle? Well, we have a little ball situation, right? So, what’s happened? Basically, there should be the spacer issue is not as bad. You’ve lost a SP. You’ve forgotten a spacer, which is not the end of the world. Yeah, because I can still cap that. It just means it’ll be higher. Yeah, it’s this bit here. You forgot that bit. There’s a wedge that goes in and then you tighten these screws up and that tightens it onto the stair tube which I don’t have. How are you going to ride them? I don’t know cuz you can’t ride without a bike shop. I don’t think a bike shop are going to have pinelli like that for a pinelli though. Seriously, we’re in Kalp. Yeah, we might be in C. We’re not in Kalpa. Actually, we’re in Oliver. Yeah, but that’s a very specific park, Kyle. I’m not sure that. I think I’ve put in there. I can’t believe how that not gone in. Look. Look how much stuff I’ve got. How did you forget that? cuz I was it when the kitchen w came around and stuff after he came around. But nothing was on the side or anything at home. So I don’t know. It’s quite easy to not see a see a passive right in it. I’m going to take this cuz I need it for tomorrow. Right. Well, I guess you’ll have to find a bike shop because we’re going on a a group ride in an hour and a half. So unless they took it out case or something. No, they won’t have taken out of customs. Why would they take that out? Right. All right, we’re now on a mission to try and sort Kyle’s bike. Just having a little oat bar. I feel really bad for Kyle because we’ve been so busy at home. It’s probably just you wouldn’t normally forget something, but in a bit of a rush last night, weren’t you? Hang on. Heat hits you out here like Sahara Desert. Wa. It’s not good for the hair frizz either, to be honest. This weather. Hang on. Oh, Jesus dropped my mat bar. That’s better. This weather is not good for the frizz. Um, we’re not sure if we’re going to be able to sort it, but we’ll try. This is basically like the event village where the event starts from tomorrow. There’s some bikes they car, but it’s not a bike mechanic. It’s just a bike shop. They’re not going to have anything. Okay, some bikes. They’re going to have anything. They’re just a bike. They’re not actually a mechanic or anything. Hola. Okay. Thank you though. Thank you. Um I would normally say yes, but I’m on my limit of my suitcase allowance. This Kyle, I don’t think anyone need a wedge. A wedge. What we need is a wedge. Let’s have a look. Kyle something to tighten that. Oh, to tighten this bit. All it needs. What happens if you just tighten that down? Don’t have a wedge. There’s some tents down here, won’t it? No. K. What happens if you just tighten that bit down? I don’t have a wedge. [Music] The what? The bars. The bars will move. All right. Now we’re just walking pointlessly. There’s nothing up there, Kyle. There’s nothing up there. That’s just the actual start of the event. Oh god, I don’t know what to say. It’s one of those parts where it’s like you can’t really It’s not one that’s just readily available, is it? That’s a bad day. Awful. I’m having a shocking time with bikes recently. I don’t know. That’s why you’re on that one as well, cuz your bike’s in for in for a mend. Doing my bike. Nothing I can say really. I feel a bit feel helpless. This is not a good start. I’m still basically ill, recovering, and Kyle’s bike is unrable. It’s just so annoying. Just one of those things that I don’t think a bike shop’s just going to have it cuz it’s such a specific specific shape. The pin as well. It’s like that bit under there basically. that wedge and that you have to tighten these up to the wedge and if you don’t then the handlebars are just loose. So, although Oh, yeah. That’s what I mean. Yeah, they’re loose. Okay, I just pulled the knob. Um, so yeah, I wouldn’t want to be car right now. It’s so hot to put the hair up. It’s sticking to me. But we’ve just spoke to some of the other guys and they’re like, “Yeah, you probably won’t be able to hire a bike this weekend cuz there’s like 5,000 people doing the sport of tomorrow.” So, fight chance of any bikes being free. So, Kyle might end up with a beach holiday where we’re staying. There’s a pool. There’s a beach. And that’s not a solution. That’s not what I want. I’m trying to be positive. Okay. Sorry. But if you did have a beach holiday, at least should be well rested. That’s not Okay. To be fair, I’d probably be crying if I was you right now. Right. We’ve got an baguette some jambon. I think I’m still speaking in French. We’re in Spain. Sorry. We’re in French. I spoke to the woman at the shop in French as well. I’m so used to going to France. Some aqua. I think that’s Spanish. And we’ve just called our good friend Simon who has a place out here and he’s here only has a car. So he’s going to hotel. He’s he’s staying at the same hotel as us and he’s going to drive Kyle if Kyle can find a bike shop that does pinellas to the bike shop while I go on my ride. So hopefully we can get something sorted. Fingers crossed. Right, we’re back at the apartment. We’re showing who we get. Kyl yours as well with half. Yeah. No, but I don’t want massive chores. Oh, okay. Um, and Kyla’s managed to locate a Pinerello dealer in Zavia. No, Dia or Javia. No, Dia, which is about 10 15 minute drive away. Simon’s on his way. He’s staying here tonight. So, they’re going to go there while I go on my ride with the group and hopefully they’ll have the missing piece. Right. Well, I’m ready for my ride. I’m not sure how far we’re going, but I only need to do 27.2 two miles or as I like to say, Maloney. Hang on. Bit of bit of smudge on the screen. Hang on a minute. If I do that distance today, then I’ll be on 12,000 miles for the year. But I don’t know if we will go that far. I think we just maybe only do in an hour. So, might be tomorrow, but we’ll see. Anyway, Kyle’s ready to get in the car with Simon, who’s found a Pinterella dealer. So, we’re praying and hoping. But you’re going to wheel me to start the ride. Faster one cuz you got a protein channel. I’ve got a prote. that one because I rode taller fronts on this one. So, my bum’s been on it a lot. It’s done over 4,000 miles just in front. Nothing rubbing. No, this one. This one’s done quite a lot of miles as well, but it’s not as rough. Anyway, I got a lot of sweat on my B in France as well. So, and we’ve got the little mascot to me on from Tom. Anyway, let’s go cuz I’m going to be late. Ed Clancy here too and Alex Det part of the CAM’s team. You come on with me. Kyle, what are you forgetting your thing? An idiot sandwich. Cam’s crew on the road. We got Jesse Yates. We got Alex Dit in front. We got I think we’ve got Ed Clancy on the front. So, some real pro cycling names. They’re all lovely. And yeah, we’re just doing I think about 20 miles. So, I’m not sure I’m going to get my 12,000 miles today. Although, I might just do a little loop at the end because I don’t know. It just be nice to get to that number today. [Applause] One word hot dripping off having a date over there. Ed, how are you? Hi, Amy. I’m good, thank you. Yeah. Are you enjoying the heat? I am. Yeah. Like uh dead lean in my old age for some reason. just do laptops, do meetings, no time for eating. Got no power, but I’m quite lean and I feel like I function all right in the heat. It’s only 138k as well tomorrow. So, it’s perfect track territory. What’s your game plan for tomorrow? Well, last year as me and Jesse found out, they stopped it every time. Can’t refeed. Yeah. Every time we tried getting away from the bush, they’d stop it with a feed trying to hold us back. It might have been because of that or it might have been uh something to do with fleece in the road, but this year we’re going to take a gamble on the fact that it’s just going to get stopped for feed. So, we’re just going to sit with the masses, top 200 riders, who’s the best and then just unleash everything we’ve got. Going to sprint leading out. So, you’re going for the win? Always got to lead out basically out. But yeah, we always my job done to go. You can buy two. It’s got to finish off. Hey, did you get a top 10 last year, right? Yeah. Went last year. Yeah. Alex Dowy was absolutely useless for 125 km last year and then useless and then he just absolutely got horrendously arrow super running and just rode everyone off his wheel and he was just unreal for last 10k. I need a bit of that for like the proceeding 125k for mile and I’ll just be at the back so you can just wait for me when when I get I’m just recovering from a cold at the minute unfortunately. So I’ve been in bed for the last two days so I’m not in top form but well that’s the issue I’ll I’ll if I’m you know quite far back don’t you worry you just get some food at the end. You can be my cheerleaders when I come through the lines. Yeah. Yeah. I’m not very happy with Jesse actually because when you took my garment off the bike to me very kindly. You saved my room. Yeah. Touch your screen and save the room. Right. We’re about to spin back to the hotel and I do have news in from Kyle. They are at a bike shop somewhere near here and they’re trying to sort it. So it sounded hopeful. So fingers crossed Kyle will be back on the bike tomorrow. I really hope he is cuz I miss him. On route back taking the front wheel of stopping. So many red lights. It’s just not quite going fast enough for a toe. Got Alex here. Another cams ambassador. It is so nice around here though, isn’t it for riding? You ridden much of Cal um twice. Well, one I’ve stayed in Calpe once. Yeah. Then last time I came, I stayed in Onin. Okay. Which is a bit out. So, we’re both this year. So, yeah. This is the year of Calpe for me. Yeah. Three times in a year. Right. Everyone’s gone back to the hotel now, but I’ve got four miles to do and then I’ll have done 12,000 miles this year. So, it’s just too tempting not to finish it off and get to my 12,000. Normally, it’s my aim every year. Well, the last two years it’s been my aim to do 12,000. 2023 I hit that. Last year, I think I did like over 12,000 and this year I’m on 12,000 in September. So, we’re going up each year. We do have a big challenge coming up next year and we’ll definitely be doing 12,000 miles next year. But we’re going to announce that next week. So, that’ll soon be revealed, but yeah, I’m going to finish off the ride. 4 miles to do and then hopefully go and see if Kyle has sorted out his bike. Two miles to go. It’s weird that I’m hitting the 12,000 miles here in Spain because this year one of the first things we did was come to Calpe for the first time for a little training ride and I was so nervous about everything I had to put in to do tour to France and I was worried about that and didn’t know how the year would turn out and now I’m back here and I did tour to France and yeah, something I didn’t really believe I could do. So, it’s quite a weird feeling, but yeah, I guess I am proud of myself, but I found that hard to say, but I want to say that because I think anyone watching this that doesn’t feel proud of themselves for the things they achieve, like don’t be scared to say it. You don’t need to do something big, but whatever you set yourself to do, if you do it or even if you don’t do it, but you try, that’s the main thing. And you should always be proud of yourself for something that you work hard towards. So yeah, and if you’re sat here thinking, I’m not proud of anything, I’m sure there’s something. And if there’s not, then maybe make yourself a goal and work towards it because it really does help to have an aim and a focus. And it doesn’t need to be something massive, just something that’s a challenge for you. But yeah, this is so nice. Little little pepp. We’re back in Pepe Land. I’m going to have to get Kyle to sing a rendition of that later. If he’s happy, if his bike’s been done, we might get a rendition. Well, I’m just riding along. I came up across these three little rat scallions who went on an extra long route to our ride. Do a climb. No girls lad time. Oh, sorry. [Applause] Lad time. Oh, sorry. I’m interrupting live. Hey, Pepe. Pepe. Pepe. They have no clue what that means. I’ll keep that one to myself. But Kyle, that one’s for you. Pepe camping. A message from Kyle just popped up on my watch saying, “I’m back in the game. Vamos get in. Woohoo.” And about 50 kisses. So, I’m guessing his bike’s sorted and he’s very happy about it. So, let’s go and see where he is and see if he’ll give us a Pepe L rendition. Kylie, can you give us the rendition of Pepe? Pepe lal. It’s sorted. Hey, we are back. We’ve got T minus 18 minutes to get showered, dressed, and in the lobby, as they say in America, lobby for uh dinner. So, I better hurry up. to be honest on the ride. Not feeling 100% feeling like a lot of snot congestion in here. But I’m feeling well enough to ride. That’s the main thing. And tomorrow for the Grand Fondo, I’m going to stick to my coach’s advice. I can’t push it. I’ve just got to ride it steady because if I ride hard, I will get ill. So Kyle behind the camera tomorrow when we say we’re not going fast, we need to actually stick to it for once because otherwise you’re putting me in jeopardy. Probably that I’m just going to have to leave you in my dust. You’re not leaving me in the dust. Especially on my bike. Where is it? Where is it? Where’s the M7? My bike. Where’s pinning? Right there. Anyway, I’ve done it. 12,01 miles. Can’t believe it. 12,01.2 miles. The most I’ve ever done at this point in the year. And I look draggle. What’s the most what it does to you? The bags. Most I’ve done at this point in the year ever. What’s the most miles you’ve done in the year? Last year. 12,000. 12,000 something. I can’t remember. So you’re not far doing the most ever. Yeah, I will be doing the most ever. Still got 3 months to go, baby. Yeah, I just counted in my head. Making sure there was still three months. Yeah, definitely. Anyway, what happened at I’m going to go and have a shower. You can explain what happened at the shop. Can I get that on the camera? You can explain why I’m turn the camera around. Oh, no. So, basically, I found a shop that claimed to be a Pinerella dealer. It was not a Pinerella dealer, and they just said they wouldn’t do anything with it. They said they had no parts, so I still had the issue. But they did recommend another bike shop as to which was only down the road. So we went there and the absolute legends managed to fix it for me. So with a bit of persuasion, he had a part that had fit and he’s done it. Right. That was the quickest freshen up and shower I’ve ever done in my life. Tminus 15 minutes to get a shower. Put a bit of moisturizer on my face. Just Yeah. Get ready. and we’re going out for dinner now. So, we’re going to end the video here. Thank you so much for watching. Tomorrow will be the Conor Grand Fondo. I keep wanting to call it Sportive, but it’s a Grand Fondo. Hoping that my cold is going to be better tomorrow. Hopefully, I can get good sleep tonight. And yeah, Kyle, come on. Let’s go. He’s putting an after shave. What are you doing in there? Come on. Taking longer than me to get ready. Yeah, but I look nice though, don’t I? You do look nice, but can you hurry up? What have you got? A bike. Have you got asthma or something? Happy B. Get off. Can you do your laces to Kyle? We’re going to be late now. We’ve got to be at the lobby. You’re making me late in 2 minutes. Don’t put your feet on the sofa, Kyle. These are clean. People have to sit there. Yeah, me. I’m king of the castle. King of the castle. High of a chair. La. Have you got something wrong? Normally, it’s the fellas waiting for the ladies. Stereotypically. Usually is. But it’s me waiting for Kyle around here. That’s not true. You know, I’m always waiting for you. That is so not true. How How much of that are you spraying on, Kyle? It’s like5 a spray. Yeah. Right. Anyway, thank you so much for watching. See you tomorrow. TBF the FN. Tata for now. Goodbye. Not bad. You want the room key? No, you’ve got the room key. I haven’t. You better do. Uh, there’s one here. Where’s the other one gone then? Where’s my phone? I plug it in here. There’s your phone. Where? There. Oh, okay. Where’s the other room key then? You had it. Oh, yeah. It’s in my jersey pocket, I think. Now we are late. No, it’s not in my Oh, no, it is. It’s in my jersey pocket. Hello down there. Right, we are going to go now. Goodbye.

If it's any conciliation Kyle, you're not the first to forget vital bits and won't be the last. I managed to leave my seat post clamp at home which was very specific to my bike (Roubaix) when all set for the Mallorca 312. Managed to get a mate to fly out with it because I just couldn't find one anywhere on the island. There's lots to be said for standard kit.!
Good vid. "Just bee" honey with lemon and ginger is good when ill. Pepe 😊
Fantastic accomplishment! 12000 miles and counting for the year is definitely something to be proud of.
Bit naughty not giving that bike shop a big shout out for saving your bacon. Or did I miss it?
Not your fault Kyle, handing on "the 4X400 relay baton" of the dreaded Plague Island Cov Flu Monkeypox lurgy !
Sharing's Caring 🙂
🌞
😷 🐒
great accomplishment hitting 12000 Miles !! 💪💪 thats so amazing ! glad Kyle found where to fix his bike i know the feeling !
Well done
Beautiful Amy ❤
Congrats on the 12k miles! That is fantastic. Glad Kyle got the bike working. It's always my greatest fear when travelling with a bike (what did I forget, what got lost or stolen, etc).
Congratulations on hitting 12000 miles, that’s an epic achievement. I had a goal of 6000 but in June I was knocked off my bike. What is it CAMS do for cyclists that have been in an unfortunate accident please? Video about my accident on this channel btw.
Wow, 12000 miles so far….what a result😃🚴♂️💪🏽 pffff, I haven't done 5 percent of that😅 Keep on going Amy and Kyle! On that note Kyle, I once forgot my shoes on a trip🥴
Well done on the 12K Amy……you two are legends!
Congratulations on hitting 12000 miles in September Amy, what an effort💪I'm glad Kyle got the bike fixed😊I thought I was doing well with 5500 miles…I'm a pensioner though😂
fantastic vlog ty
What bike box do you have Amy ?❤
This is why I'm in favor of standard components (handlebars, stems & seatposts) more flexibility, less drama. And congrats on 12k miles, much earlier than before.
Initially i was thinking the Next Challenge would be one of the Transcontinental Races as a Couple Which i think you two would do Well, but that means you would have to get Gravel Bikes and i can't see you getting off Pinny anytime Soon, So i'm Back to thinking Cycle Across The USA, Oh oh i know Route 66, Get Gravel Bikes you Two and do the Silk Road.
That Pinnarello stem far too complex for its own good. Bikes should be simple and straightforward.
Kyle back in the game. Brilliant. Well done on the 12,000,
12,000 miles is great.
I broke a Cannondale bespoke seat wedge in Girona earlier this year. Luckily, I had a spare with me but these model / brand specific parts are a nightmare.
Good that Kyle got it fixed.
Congratulations on hitting 12,000 milones!! You’re a legend Amy!
massive congrats on 12000 miles. Love Kyle’s moves putting on his after shave – he’s well happy to be back in the game !
I'd just blame the missing piece on the dog 😉
During your TdF adventure I applied for a job that I really wanted. But often before the interviews some self-doubt crept in and made me feel bad. Your mantra "I can and I will" helped me get through the interviews and also the memories your stages in the mountains brought back. My wife put it in perspective from time to time: "you enjoyed going uphill for 3h – only someone who doesn't give up does that". Learned from her to be proud of that.
Anyway – I got the job and started Sept. 1st and I really like it and my team. 🎉
I apparently aced the hour-long coding-challenge as my team lead told me during my onboarding. I'm a bit annoyed that I felt quite bad after the interview until I got the invitation to the next round. This self-doubt thing can really affect you. But I'm getting better at it and the durations of annoyance are getting shorter. My therapist gave me some valuable tools.
Thank you for your positivity and openness to talking about mental health! And also for keeping the hard parts in the videos. I bet you've helped and inspired lots of people.
Great to see Kyle this happy.
He is a lot more patient than I would be, if a part was missing.
Congrats on all the miles…, and smiles.
Proprietary bike parts can be a nightmare, pleased it was sorted and 12,000 miles is awesome.
How is the heat down there compared to some of the hot days in france. Should have given Kyle the option of riding a pink bike while you stayed in bed for a few more days 😁😆😁Goods job on geetting it fixed up, and 12k miles is amazing, easily double my last year figures, and probably tripled this years. Hope all go well for the gran fonda
Hit by a car, oh no. I would never have guessed considering the brave riding I have seen you display in last or so watching your channel. You are a brave lass in my book.😊
Well done on the milage, 12,000 miles is huge miles in a year and it’s not over over yet!!! Keep going 🚴🏼♀️💨
Hi Amy and Kyle another great video ..Well done Amy 19300 km already, you are so fit. Glad Kyle got his bike sorted, he has a lot on his plate. I'm sure he does all the packing and getting the bikes ready for travel. The weather looks great and lovely for cycling. Sure you had a great time. Can't wait for your big announcement, and what you're up too. All the best bye for now Tim ❤.
You keeeeeeeep teasing us about next year!!!! 😤😄
Kyle's mood after his bike was fixed boosted my own mood on this gloomy Monday morning 🙂 you're the best people on youtube!
Havent tuned in quite a while. Kyle lost a lot of weight 😮
Sorry I'm possibly going to up set some saying this but Amy for crying out loud gets off Kyle's back and stop going on at him. He would walk to hell and back for you and all you do is moan at him and put him down. It might be your channel but you couldn't do half of the amazing things you have done without Kyle's help.
I'd forget about the 12,000 miles but make sure you go on enjoying it. Just remember what got you into cycling in the first place.
Amy you are awesome. Kyle's not to bad either 😂.
❤enjoying your adventures and inspirational videos . Loving the Pink Bike I may have to eventually upgrade my Brompton T Line.
You guys are amazing what you do. You should be very proud of what you have accomplished. I got half way through watching your Tour De France epic journey and then disaster struck!. I banged my leg and got internal bleeding in my right leg which swelled up and burst at the back. You can imagine blood every where. This was at A+E waitng room. Had surgery and in hospital for 3 weeks. and now recovering but with skin complications but we will get there. So my goal is to get back to some normality for next year. I am planning to take early retirement so will have plenty more time for cycling and swimming all being well…. "Never Give UP" 😁👍…………
And here I am trying to hit 2,000 miles for the year…. I have 2 young kids though, so that’s my excuse lol.
