[Applause] [Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music] Oh, Well, [Music] [Music] today I will take you guys on a trip with me to show you how a day in my life looks like when I’m going for training for my current job. So, I just got outside my house and now I’m walking to the bus station. It’s raining a bit, so I’m carrying an umbrella right now. And this is the view right across the street. And now I will go to the bus station. You can see it’s raining. When I came out of the house, it was not raining, but now that I’m already on the street, it started to drizzle a bit. And that’s a garbage truck. This is the bus stop. I have just reached the bus stop. I’ll wait for the bus. I think I’m early by 10 minutes. So, I have to wait for that time. So I have to take the X1 bus which goes to Bridgen. It is due for 713 and right now it is 7:01. I have to reach my training destination at 9:30 but it’s quite fast. So that’s why I came out early. [Music] [Music] That’s a road cleaner truck. The earlier one was probably a garbage truck or maybe they were the same truck. I’m not really sure. But that’s a road cleaner truck. Now it’s 7:10, so I’m hoping the bus will be here in like 3 minutes. And that’s my bus exactly right there. So now I’m in the bus and this is the view. I’m on the second floor, so I can have a better view. And because I’m traveling farther, I usually get on the top floor rather than the bottom one. There are not many people do during this time in the bus because it’s early in the morning. The bus does wobble a bit and I have just reached the bus station which is just two or three stops from my house. So this is the main bus station of Swansea. That’s flex bus. That’s the bus I used to come from London to Swansea. It is one of the cheapest bus that was available. Uh they have national express too but I found it to be a dollar or a pound or two more expensive. And now we have taken off from the bus station for the trip. So from here the next bus station that will come is most probably the need to port Talbbert uh Port Talbbert brush station if I’m not mistaken. This is the bridge that is between my home and my workplace which is my uh which is the hospital where I work and every day whenever I have my shift if I’m cycling I cross this bridge and then another one that connects this bridge. So I cross two bridges to go to work. Uh the view is really great and the uphill is a bit difficult if you’re on a cycle but uh the downhill is good but the view is really great so I get to enjoy that view every day. So this is the second bridge as a bridge as you see basically it’s the same bridge but they are more or less like two bridges connected. That’s how it feels. So now we have crossed my hospital and we are on the way and this is the view. I’ll let you enjoy the view. Um well I’m not entirely certain why the place for my training is so far but it is. But before I tell you more about my training let’s just enjoy the view. These are some farmlands that are between uh Swansea and Bridgend and they are lovely. They have big houses here uh big farms here and and really looks great. This is a field also here. So now we have reached Bridgent and we are going to go to the bus station. The Bridgent bus station. Right in front of us is bus X2. I have to catch that bus in order to go further. If I miss to catch that bus, then I have to walk more. So, I really hope this bus stops because it was supposed to be behind us, but somehow it overtook us. And now I’m just hoping that it won’t go and go before I take it. So, that’s an X2 also. And I think because we waited at the red light, that’s I’m I’m going to miss the bus. So, I have to walk. Anyways, I’m fine with it. Oh, actually, that was not the case. is the X2 that we just saw. That was the X2 for other way around. So, the bus in front of us was right in front of us and I took the bus and got to a nearer bus stop and this is the actual place where I’m going to have my training. Um, the gate in front is where I’ll be going. That’s me already inside the training center. I’m not going to show you the clips, but I’ll share with you what it is like to be there. And you know what? It was really funny. Williams. So, you just saw that I came from my home to this training center. I have not taken clips inside the training center because this is not a public place and I’m at work. So, I don’t think I’m allowed to vlog. Uh, so I did not vlog. Basically, I’m just going to share with you what happens, why it happens, anything that I think might be interesting or you should know about this day in my life. In my work, like every other work, you need to have some training and the training needs to come from your employer just so that they are sure that you know how to do things their way. In my job, I have done two trainings including this one. I would have done three trainings. The first one is manual handling. Basically, this training they teach you how to pick things up, how to transport patients, how to move patients, how to pick patients up and do everything that I have just said in a safe manner for yourself and the patients. What are the limits? What are the postures and what you should know when transporting things or moving bits like the big hospital beds? How you should move them? How you should roll the patient? Might sound very easy, but imagine a 80year-old 80 kg patient with less mobility. How would you do that? Everything needs a certain procedure and a certain protocol that should be followed. And they they teach you that specifically for manual handling in those scenarios. Or if you want to pick up a box at your work and you’re supposed to pick up that box but it’s a heavy box. So what are your limits? When should you stop or how should you pick it up? Uh how should you bend your back? Uh basic things but they teach you and that’s one of the trainings that I have done. It happened in Singleton Hospital. Let me go further. I’ll just quickly break down structure of hospitals in this city. I live in Swansea. They have Swansea uh Bay Health Board or Swansea University Health Board. Three main hospitals in it. It has Morrison’s hospitals, Singleton Hospital and Neport Talbert Hospital. I live in Swansea. So this Singleton hospital is the closest one for me. It is the second biggest hospital I would say and the largest one would be Morrison’s Hospital and the smallest one relatively is the Neport Talbat Hospital in Port Talbet. The training I had for manual handling was a mandatory training. It is booked all the mandatory trainings are booked by your line manager and you must attend them. You’re required to attend them. my case I have attended them but in one or two cases I have changed the dates on which I attend because I’m on a student visa I can only work 20 hours and my priority is my studies so I do my studies and my classes and when I don’t have my classes then I do my work I don’t do my work by missing my classes and then when I’m done with both then I study uh and if I have time I do other things which I don’t usually but having that said I have to shift my working schedule to fit around my study schedule for my university as I’m a full-time student. These trainings are important. So, I did manual handling in Singleton Hospital which is quite close to me. Uh it was a two-day course if I’m not mistaken. Then I also have done blood glucose. You can choose all of these trainings on different hospitals. For example, they have I think all these trainings at all of the hospitals, but based on what time you want to do or what date you want to choose, you might have restrictions on which places you want to go. So for me, I wanted to do the blood glucose as soon as possible because I was free for a certain part of the day and Morrison’s hospital had that. So I went there, I registered myself. This is not a mandatory training. So you can register yourself if you want to do that. I registered myself and got that training. It was I think two or three hours. The cl I have to do is restrain training. This specific training is extremely important specifically in certain wards. For example, I work in a mental health ward. Why this certain training is being held is because and what is happening in this training is that we have a 4-day training course. Day 1 2 3 4. In this uh mostly the first day is gone in theoretical knowledge of everything you should know about how to escape from someone’s hold, how to uh separate people or how to uh protect yourself if someone is fighting you. How to restrain someone and get a hold of them and make them not move or take them to a sofa if they are standing or if they are fighting. How to like restrain them completely on the floor or on the bed depending on the scenario. How to rotate and medicate them. uh all of these different things. But the main thing to understand is that you have to make sure that you are safe the whole time and the patient is safe because your goal is not like how in a street fight if someone comes and punches you. Your goal is to protect yourself and you’ll probably punch back. Uh but here that that’s not the goal. Here the goal is to protect yourself and stop them without actually hurting them because you’re not trying to hurt them. You’re trying to deescalate the situation. If verbal uh then fails then you have to get involved physically depending on the situation and to do that you must be trained otherwise you will certainly hurt yourself and you may hurt the patient which is not safe. So they give us this training unlike other trainings which happen at various places and you can choose based on the time or date and location. This particular training happens only in Bridget where I am currently. So to do this training you have to come here and to come here it takes a lot of time for me for example everyone that works in my in my job has a car has a vehicle uh so they usually travel through that I have a no car I have no car because of that I usually rely on public transport um that’s not too great here so in order to for me to come from my city which is Swansea my home to this place it takes me 2 and a half to 3 hours in the morning and to go back it will take around 3 hours 3 hours 15 minutes however uh like I did 2 days of my training early in last month because I as I said I can only do 20 hours a week so uh one day uh like 2 days of training total to 15 hours so I can’t do 4 days because that would go over 20 hours and I would break my contract with I did two days last month and on the second day uh there was a guy uh in the training which also works in my wall and he gave me a lift. So because of that I came home in like an hour like I he gave me a lift more than halfway and then I took a bus but the overall time was just an hour but if no one gives a lift then I take 3 hours. Uh I I usually do not ask anyone for anything because uh I I just don’t like it. Uh but yeah he offered and then I came. However, on the day three and four which was today and tomorrow I came by myself and went by myself. So um it it t 3 hours 3 hours 15 minutes for one way travel. You do not have a car and you come from Swansea. I think that is how much it will take. It will not take less time. You can however take a train but the time will still be the same. The reason is if you take a bus for example in my case the bus takes me from my home to bridgen bus station and then I walk from there to the actual place. It takes 45 minutes of walk. However, if you take a train, you have to first walk from the training center to the bus train station in Bridgen and then you would have to take the train which is quick but then you would have to walk from the train station to this home or you wouldn’t need to wait for a bus which will eventually take the same time or you can take a taxi which is super quick but I don’t think it makes any sense to take a taxi like even if you have a lot of money still the reason is you’re doing the job to in a sense earn money And uh the taxi from my home to this place will take ยฃ45 one way. So it would cost me ยฃ90 to just travel um and it would save my 2 hours and 15 minutes. But would it still make sense? So I do not take it. If someone has a car, it is extremely cheap and they usually take the car to travel and the time would decrease. But that the reason that’s the reason uh it takes a lot of time. However, coming back to the training train teaches you all of these things. They make sure that you are comfortable with using these techniques and you are safe in the world and you do not harm others and you work good as a team because most of the restraints are a team effort and team work. So you all of the members should be trained in order to do the restraints. If you’re not trained, you cannot do the restraint because you don’t know how to do that. And it’s not like a street fight where you just, oh, I’ll just grab someone or something. No, there are specific ways to do it. So this is a very important training uh especially in the ward where I work or similar wards uh as we need this training. I have seen by myself. Uh like this is uh this is usually a type of thing that is taught to you and you would hope that you never use it but I’ve seen this training in use in in real life in my uh experience till now and I I hope I will not see it again but I am quite certain being practical that it will be used. The reason is in order to help the patients sometimes you need to do this just to make sure they are safe and everyone’s safe according to protocols and the law. Uh I think that’s said this is what we we do and today is my last day. So from 9:00 to 5:00 is our official time. Uh depends on uh how much training you have or how many people you have. For example, if you have less members training at that day, uh like five, six, seven people, you might take a little bit less time. But if you have a lot of member, let’s say 20 members of training on that day, then you will take the whole time because many people, so everyone needs to practice one by one, one by one, it takes more time. You get plenty of break according to the rules and uh the the training center itself has all the facilities. So even though it’s far which I don’t like uh like it makes no sense it’s so far but still it has like washrooms it has a refrigerator you can keep your food is it has microwave they have drinks like hot chocolate tea coffee they give you breaks uh the trainers are super cool friendly and they teach you uh uh and it’s it’s a good environment to learn and they do pass on the learning um it’s a great place and that’s what happened today. So that’s what happened in the time that I have not shown you the clips but I hope you get an idea of why I do this training and uh how the training is like it’s like in simpler terms this training is like if you have seen some martial art or jiu-jitsu classes or something like it’s not like fighting or something but if you have seen breakaway techniques or you know some of those things so more or like like that like a big mat and then everyone comes on the mat and practices the trainer teaches is you enact it could be a real an action like if you’re offended easily the trainer said to let them know but I’m not offended easily I cannot be offended easily for my uh work uh so yeah uh and that’s what we have done and now I’ll show you back let’s go back to the clips and I’ll show you back how my journey home was and now after the whole training I have just finished and I’m walking back to the bus station uh but I just found out that I have some time so I’m going to take a bus and I took the bus. It dropped me to the bus station which is in Brand and I’m waiting for this bus to move. I’ve just sat in the bus, but the bus moves in like 15 minutes. So, I’m just going to sit here for a few minutes till the bus starts. By the way, now the bus started, guys. And look at the view. That’s such a beautiful house. Usually the houses are either not good-looking here or really good-looking here. Like there’s no in between according to me. And this is a nice farmland. You’ll find nice farmlands, barns, and big houses. And it’s lovely to see those. This is kind of the place where you want to live, you know, not in a city center. I mean it’s either this or the exact city center, not the small city centers or anywhere in between. It’s either the farmland with a big house and few animals or else the exact city center. Yeah, like houses like this. I don’t like small small houses like they are quite big and expensive but still some more farmlands. [Music] [Music] And we are back on the bridge. And uh there’s water in the river. And so now I am home. I hope you like the video and I have shown you what I did during the day. Um my battery is now 5% so I’ll close the vlog here. I was going to show you the whole day but uh my phone’s not going to last. So, I’ll charge it now and I’ll do other work. Uh, but that’s how my day was. I hope you like the video and if you did, uh, like it and comment or subscribe. Do whatever you want to do with it. So,

Share.
