Crazy thing is that those bikes were in production in at least two places in China until very recently and another one or two in India (still going afaik). All of them are a knock off or direct copy of some Raleigh bike from well before ww2.
Those bikes used to be made in about a dozen countries after ww2 with bigger or smaller success. Level of craftsmanship varied wildly too.
