Replacing 53-39 11-34t 2×9 for climbing

I need to replace my cassette and chainrings due to wear.
I ride 2×9 road and currently have SG B 53-39 chainrings and an 11-34t cassette.
I’d like to take that opportunity to make climbing a little easier. Currently I can just make it home al low cadence, and there are local hills I can’t climb.
My cranks are Ultegra, custom shortened by the previous owner, so I really do not want to replace those.
What‘s my best option?

I thought 50-36, but I believe my BCD is 130mm so that’s not an option. So 11-36t? Would I need a new derailleur cage?
