Hello everyone, i cleaned my bike upside down today, waited for it to be dry, re assembled it and my back derailleur doesn’t shift anymore, it’s stuck on the largest gear.
The shifters clicks and the transmission cable moves when clicking the shifters but no gears moves ?
Have any of you had this problem?
I watched a YouTube video and apparently it’s grease that accumulated I should insert wd40 directly on the shifters?
I don’t have wd40 however rn on me.
Maybe it’s an another problem ?
Any advice is appreciated!

  1. Seems like the derailleur cable lost tension and needs some tightening. It looks as if it got wet and slipped out.

  2. Put your finger on the bare cable and pull. Is it taught or is it loose and you pulled some slack out? If slack, loosen the pinch bolt, pull the cable taught and tighten the pinch bolt. Is taught, maybe water got in the cable housing and locked up the cable. Is the shifter hard to press?

  3. I zoom in on chainstay cable guide, the shifting cable + has come out of the guide on the chainstay.

  4. Picture 3, zoom in, your housing came unseated from the cable stop. Move the shifter to the smallest gear if needed then put the housing back in the stop. If you loosened the pinch bolt at the derailleur already then you’re going to need to reindex it also.
