Entdeckt mit uns die französische Bikeroute TransProvence! Ein wahres Trailfeuerwerk auf sechs Etappen durch die Alpes-de-Haute-Provence in Südfrankreich. Wir sind in Barcelonnette im Ubaye-Tal, nahe des Mercantour-Nationalparks gestartet und treffen dann auf den Verdon-Fluss, dem wir zum “Grand Canyon du Verdon” und dem smaragtfarbenen See Lac de Sainte-Croix folgen. Die einsame, wilde Landschaft mit kilometerlangen Singletrails ist ein Paradies für Trailliebhaber!
1-Barcelonnette – Colmars: Auf kleiner Asphaltstraße schrauben wir uns hoch zum Col d’ Allos. Hier beginnt ein Trail, der sich in traumhafter Bergkulisse dahinschlängelt, bergauf, bergab durch Lärchenwälder und Almwiesen. Wir verlassen ihn nur, um in dem Bergdorf Allos eine Mittagspause einzulegen. Übernachtung im mittelalterlichen Städtchen Colmars. Wegen Regens mußten wir leider die Trails von Allos bis Colmars auslassen.
2-Colmars – Colle Saint Michel: Nach 8 km Anstieg auf Asphalt erwarteten uns eigentlich unglaubliche 30 Kilometer Singletrails. Leider mußten wir auch hier einen großen Teil wegen Regens auslassen. Die Auffahrt über die Paßstraße zum Colle St. Michel im prasselden Regen war aber auch ein Erlebnis. Die Herberge mit den sehr netten Besitzern ist sehr zu empfehlen.
3-Colle Saint Michel – St.-André-les-Alpes: Die Etappe beginnt mit dem Anstieg auf eine Hochebene, dann führt ein steiniger Sahnetrail hinab zum Fluß Verdon. Etwas hinter dem Lac des Sagnes stärken wir uns für die Auffahrt zum Montagne de Maurel. Die Landschaft ändert sich, die hohen Berge sehen wir nur noch in der Ferne. Nach einer langen, nicht enden wollenden Trailabfahrt erreichen wir St.-André-les-Alpes.
4-St.-André-les-Alpes – La Palud-sur-Verdon: Über einen Höhenrücken geht es auf Pisten und Trails oberhalb des Lac de Castillon Richtung Süden. Nach einer Mittagspause im malerischen Ort Castellane windet sich der Weg entlang der Schlucht des Verdon bis man oberhalb des Ortes Rougon zum ersten Mal den eindrucksvollen Canyon du Verdon erblickt.
5-Rundtour bei der Verdonschlucht: Heute erkunden wir die Trails um La Palud und haben mehrmals Gelegenheit an den bis zu 700 m tief abfallenden Klippen die Geier kreisen zu sehen. Ein Highlight, das wir uns nicht entgehen lassen. Die Trail Highlights sind die Abfahrt von der Route de Crete nach La Palud und der Trail oberhalb von Rougon hinab an den Verdon.
6-La Palud-sur-Verdon – Bauduen: Die letzte Etappe zum Lac de Sainte-Croix ist gespickt mit anspruchsvollen Abfahrten und steilen Gegenanstiegen. Es bleibt aber auch Zeit, den wunderschönen Ort Moustiers Sainte Marie zu besichtigen. Als Abschluss biken wir durch duftende Lavendelfelder und am Ufer des blauschimmernden Lac de Sainte-Croix entlang zum Ziel und es ist noch Zeit für ein Abschlußbad!
